Resident Evil Revelations 2

Posted in horror, Horror Babes, Monsters, Video Games, Zombies on March 29, 2015 by chrisdsav

Resident Evil continues on its path of furthering the storey started back in 1996. At least two years after the events in Resident Evil 6 which took place in China and DC and other places around the globe. The global health peace and humanitarian organization Terra Save is attacked and Claire Redfield (who we last saw in the CGI movie Regeneration) and Moyra Burton are kidnapped and with other members of  Terra Save. Barry Burton (Moyra’s estranged father)  last seen in Resident Evil 3 is back as well as he goes searching for Claire and his daughter. He encounters Natalia a mysterious girl on the island and learns the islands connection to an old enemy. You switch back and forth between the two story arcs as they come together in a different way for this game series.
This was a chapter by chapter download game that has now come out on disk with the extra content added in.

For a 40$ price tag its a great game with cool new enemies and recreates that creepy atmosphere of being stuck on an island from RE Code Veronica X. Another game you play as Claire and Chris Redfield. As female gamers have complained there are not enough games with female characters this is the game for you.

image

Claire returns and two new characters with a female villain and one male character this game has what a lot of fans of Resident Evil have asked for.
Creepy enemies and spooky visuals make it a great entry in the series. The last Revelations game had bland enemies and an ok amount of action. This game mixes the two nicely and I would say the best RE game since 4.
You have some upgrades through jewels you find in the game and some costume changes that are a bit on the side of creepy or male pandering.

The game is available on download on The Play Station and Xbox networks and on disk for all four systems by those companies as well. A WiiU version is suppose to be out too since Revelations 1 was on the 3DS and WiiU.

Resident Evil is my second favorite video game series behind Castlevania. With talks of a RE7 on the way, and the recently released HD version of the original. With new content added and the tank controls replaced by the over the shoulder perspective of RE4, its a good time to be a fan of this series. Until next year when Resident Evil End Game comes out in theaters.

Time Lapse

Posted in SciFi, Time Travel on March 27, 2015 by chrisdsav

Sometimes Sci-fi thrillers can be like Alien or Event Horizon or the Thing, sometime they can be like some thing the Asylum would make.

TIME LAPSE is the feature directorial debut of Bradley King, who co-wrote the script with BP Cooper. It was produced by BP Cooper and Rick Montgomery (Happy, Texas) and edited by Tom Cross, Academy Award®-winning editor of Whiplash. The film had its North American premiere at the 2014 Seattle International Film Festival and has won 25 awards at over 65 film festivals worldwide.

“A smart sci-fi thriller with a mind-bending premise, TIME LAPSE combines the ingenious structure of Memento with the dark comic irony of The Twilight Zone,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon. “It epitomizes the exciting new wave of ‘lo-fi sci-fi’ films reported in the Wall Street Journal that rely on original, clever stories and masterful filmmaking rather than hundred-million-dollar visual effects budgets.”

TIME LAPSE explores the possibilities of time travel through a machine that is capable of taking pictures 24 hours into the future. When three friends discover this mysterious machine in their neighbor’s apartment, they encounter a number of pressing questions, not least of which is the whereabouts of their neighbor. Realizing the potential impact of the machine, Finn (Matt O’Leary), Jasper (George Finn), and Callie (Danielle Panabaker) attempt to cash in on their discovery.  But, when a dangerous criminal learns their secret, the friends must set aside their differences and confront the paradox of a future that was once predetermined and entirely uncertain.  Using an engaging blend of action, humor, and philosophy, TIME LAPSE is an original thriller that not only keeps the audience guessing, but also explores questions of pre-determination, free will and destiny.

“After a thrilling festival run around the globe, we are beyond excited to put the North American release of TIME LAPSE into the capable and creative hands of such a forward-thinking distributor as XLrator Media,” said filmmakers Bradley King and BP Cooper in a joint statement.

The deal was negotiated by XLrator Media’s Barry Gordon and Lea Flome with Paradigm Agency’s Ben Weiss and Meghan Oliver on behalf of the filmmakers.

The X-Files Returns

Thirteen years after the original series run, FOX has ordered the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, six-episode event series which will be helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.

Production on THE X-FILES event series is set to begin in summer 2015. Further details remain under wraps and will be announced at a later date.

THE X-FILES originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny), as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

Now what about the comic book from IDW which depicts the season 10??

Mini Reviews Part 4 The Revenge

More reviews of too many films to cover on this blog, for longer review tune in to the show on Sunday night, as we discuss them in length.

What we do in the Shadow’s

What_We_Do_in_the_Shadows_poster

This comes from the Flight of the Concords team who also appear in the movie. A group of Vampires live together and try to co habitate as roommates in the modern era. They have a woman who one of them promises to turn if she is a good day watcher. The group gets use to the modern world when a new Vampire introduced to their group has a friend that shows them skype and cell phones and tries to get them get into the 21century. It’s a unique mockumentary style film with an unseen camera crew the vampires hired to chronicle their night to night life. The jokes and silliness of the Vampires is front and center for the main story. They bicker and bitch and moan like roommates do. You get a real sense of how much fun they had making this movie. This is a film making fun of all the crappy romance movies and TV shows involving Vampires we have gotten over the last 7 years. A subject in Vampire fiction which has all ways been around since Dracula but this was getting ridicules. What we do in the shadows does not take it self seriously. It’s a real fun look at a genre that had gotten too stale. Dark gothic creepy and funny as hell.

Teeth and Blood

From the BET network creator Robert L Johnson, this was one of the worst movies I had seen in a long time. It’s filled with bad tropes and jokes of black, Hispanic and Asian people. Like purple suit wearing Vampire pimps, queen divas, black Females Cops with big asses. It just goes over the top and is a bore from beginning to end. I applaud them for trying to fill the Vampire Genre with something besides Blade and Blackula. I would prefer the latter two films. ….Blackula and Scream Blackula Scream is now on blur ray from Scream Factory.

The Voices

A man played by Ryan Reynolds with a few too many problems talks to his Cat Mr. Whiskers and his Dog Bosco. (Reynolds voices all the animals in this movie, making you ask if this is all in his head and he hears voices coming thru his cat and dog. There is also a deer who talks to him as well. The dog acts like his conscious and the Cat gives him the worst advice. HE starts to fall for the woman he works with played by Gemma Arterton and Ann Kendrick. This movie was insane from beginning to end. At times though you really feel bad for. This movie really has some deep depressing loneliness issues you can relate too. Reynolds seems to be at his best when he is not playing a jack ass on screen. Buried is another movie of his like that. Voices has this dark and funny quality all at the same time. Showing us a Horror movie different than we seen before. The screenplay for this movie was written in 2009, and was one of the best unread screenplays in Hollywood for 5 years.

Wolf Cop

Wolf cop

One of the most ridicules movies to come out recently is Wolf Cop it hit film fests last year and then went to theaters and vod and dvd this past week. A cop gets bitten by a Werewolf and becomes a Wolf Cop. He maintains his sanity and uses his new Wolf powers to fight crime. Very simple very 80s, as there is tons of cheese in this movie. Gory over the top and very silly at times. This movie is not to be taken seriously, much like Hobo with a Shotgun was a few years ago. Wolf Cop will go down as one of the best Horror Comedies ever made.

Electric Zombie’s Friday the 13th merchandise

Posted in Friday the 13th, merchandise, shirts on March 12, 2015 by chrisdsav

I thought in honor of FRIDAY the 13TH being tomorrow, it be a good time to go over a cool email I just got from Electric Zombie

Electric Zombie celebrates Friday the 13th with new merchandise
Jason Voorhees-inspired shirts, posters and more available at midnight from TheElectricZombie.com

Friday the 13th doesn’t have to mean you’re doomed. Nostalgia-fueled clothing company Electric Zombie is celebrating the cursed day with a host of new merchandise inspired by everyone’s favorite hockey masked slasher.
Jason 2
The line kicks off with several new designs: a baseball shirt emblazoned with an all-over print of Jason’s red and blue mask inspired by the Jason Takes Manhattan poster, a tee featuring a comic book-style rendering the maggot-covered Part VII Jason and a tee with a simple message for fans of Part IV: “Don’t Be a Dead Fuck!”

Electric Zombie’s fan favorite Jason Bond shirt – from the memorable opening of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives – has been reprinted due to popular demand. This time, there’s also a new “Power Glove” colorway that glows in the dark. Reprints of EZ’s classic hockey mask tee and Jason Goes to Hell portrait design are also available.

Jason
Last but certainly not least, more Dead Heads are up for grabs. Each Madballs-style 4-inch rubber ball is styled to look like Jason’s grotesque head, complete with removable resin masks. It comes in both classic and 8-bit variants, but there are only 5 of each. The first batch sold out in less than 2 hours, so you’ll have to be faster than Jason Voorhees if you want one.

Limited quantities of Friday the 13th Part III, Part IV, Part VI and Part VIII posters from last month’s drop are still for sale. These prints make for perfect wall decor in your cabin.

“To me, Friday The 13th is like Christmas,” states Electric Zombie owner Kyle Crawford. “There’s magic, everyone is eating Christmas dinner and opening gifts, except on this day, it’s eating popcorn and watching someone get hacked up by a dude in a hockey mask. This year we have 3 of them, and I want to make sure that everyone is celebrating – and doing so in style.”

These items will be available at 12:01am (EST) on Friday the 13th of March at TheElectricZombie.com. With nearly every look of Jason from the original Friday the 13th series represented, franchise fanatics will be well equipped for their next trip to Camp Crystal Lake.

Electric Zombie also offers apparel and prints influenced by classic wrestling, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, A Nightmare on Elm Street and many more pop culture favorites from the ’80s and ’90s.

Lucy Lawless joins the cast of Ash vs The Evil Dead

Posted in Bruce Campbell, news, The Evil Dead, tv, Zombies on March 9, 2015 by chrisdsav

Starz has announced today that Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) will play the role of Ruby in the STARZ original series “Ash vs Evil Dead.” The series is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to film on location in New Zealand this spring and premiere on STARZ in late 2015.

Ruby is a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: she believes that Ash (Bruce Campbell) is the cause of it all.

The casting reteams Lawless with executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert whom she worked with when she starred in the television series’ “Xena: Warrior Princess” and “Spartacus” as well as appearing in their feature films including Raimi’s Spider Man and Tapert’s Boogeyman. Additional television credits include “Salem,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Top Of The Lake,” “Flight of the Conchords,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “Battlestar Galactica” among others.

Lawless joins previously announced cast members Bruce Campbell (Ashley J. Williams), Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell) and Jill Marie Jones (Amanda Fisher).
The STARZ Original series “Ash vs Evil Dead” will be 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of

Alien: The Archives

Posted in aliens, Books, movies, SciFi on March 4, 2015 by chrisdsav

Something amazing came in the mail I discussed on the show a few weeks ago as well as brought it up on my blog last year during the 35th anniversary of ALIEN. Well with the announcement that we are getting another ALIEN movie and Sigourney Weaver and maybe Michael Biehn are coming back what better time to review Alien Archives from Titan Books.
Alien
Published late last year this books covers all four of the Alien films ( nothing to do with Prometheus or Avp 1 and 2) It contains many great behind the scene pictures and notes about the films. Have you seen some of these images before YES! Are there still a lot of great pictures in this books oh you betcha.

The book is dedicated to H.R.Giger and it should be as he designed the creature and the dust jacket is a black and white image of the Xenomorph. Giger in case you didn’t know passed away last year.
hrgiger-620x400

Each film gets an exhuastive high res pictures nothing grainey or old they really did a good job of restoring some of these pictures too look like they were shot yesterday. You get differant angles than you have ever seen before from the movies. If you have the Alien Colonial Marines book and the Alien Vault book this goes great with them for your own person collection. They should put out the storyboards for the first two Alien movies going thru each film, that would be very very cool. We get some in this book, but a whole volume dedicated to it would be very nice.

Content for each film features the history and production process, the cast, designs for the environment, spaceships, and the alien, all in the at order.

unnamed (1)

The text overall is insightful and informative. However, history for each film is rather brief but this isn’t a detailed production diary so it’s not surprising. The other text comes in the form of interviews, captions and commentary explaining the designs, filming process and the work that is done. The paragraphs here and there plus snippets of text all add up to a huge amount of content to read.

unnamed
Frame by Frame from some scenes in the film behind the scenes. The books interview author is the former editor of Britain’s top-selling movie magazine, Empire Mark Salisbury.
