I had a lot of fun with two people who came on the recently Former DC Comic Editor Mike Carlin and Michael Bailey of the Fortress of Baileytude. The Never Ending Battle….IN HELL!!!!
The Blaze/Satanus War ran in Adventures of Superman#493…Action Comics#680..Man of Steel#15 ….and Superman#71by Roger Stern Jerry Ordway, Tom Grummet, Louise Simonson, Brett Breeding Mike Carlin and the rest of the Superman team at that time.
Fosworth the former editor and chief of the Daily Planet tried to kill himself and was saved by Superman at the behest of the demon Blaze in the guise of an Angel. Blaze begins sending demons thru mirrors to attack the people in the Newstime building. Lord Satanus arrives in his first post crisis apearence to stop his SISTER!!! Yup its a war of siblings with Superman Jimmy Lois Perry and Alice caught in the middle. Jimmy while taping Turtle Boy gets a vision from Jerry White that BLAZE has returned. Alice and Perry are guided by Jerry White,into a church to save the people of the News Time building. Its revealed that Satanus is in fact Newstime Editor and Cheif Colin Thornton. He is very much portrayed as the lesser of two evils between him and his sister, but that dont mean you shoukd trust him. Superman and Satanus must stop Blaze even if its costs Superman his soul.
This was a great follow up to the Soul Search storyline I posted about last week. Out of all the art in this story I love the way Grummet draws Lord Satanus the most. Even tho its only two panels he really has a great look about him showing he lives up to his namesake. The depiction of HeLL or Limbo the dark dimension is a bit different than last we saw but that might be the interpertaion of the art team.
In an interview on the Superman podcast From Crisis to Crisis Jerry Ordwat talks about wanting to do something different after several normal superhero battles and with someone who is pure unrelenting evil. Unlike Lex Luthor or Ugly Manheim Blaze could not be reasoned with.
Satanus would return during the rebuiling of Metropolis and Lex Luthor run for President. Blaze would return in Adventures of Superman #500 to torment Johnathan Kent as he looks for Clark in the afterlife. Both would play a huge part of the Reign in Hell crossover in 2008.
It’s as if Marvel/Disney woke up and Dai we own allllllll this horror and supernatural stuff and we are not making any money on it. Maybe they will print a copy of the Darkhold we can buy.

For those who don’t know Archie has had a foot in the Horror industry for half a year now with the hugely popular After life with Archie where a Zombie Apocolypse comes to Riverdale. Partly caused by Sabrina resurrecting Jugheads dog.
Now we all know the tv show staring Melisa Joan Hart but it was actually based on an Archie Comic Book character who first appeared in Archie’s Madhouse #22 October 1962.
Now we have the Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.
In this we learn the new darker origin of one of the most popular witches around. Story and art by Roberto Aguirre-Sarcasm and Robert Hack.
This is a new gothic twisted origin of the witch from Riverdale. The comic is monthly and will contain a back classic Sabrina story so you get a little more for your buck evry month. Sabrina has been in hot demand since Afterlife with Archie started. Check out the perfect comic for Halloween.
Ok Radio of Horror Review of the ABC of Death 2
The follow up to the original film makes you rethink your fragile existence with 26 more interesting short films of bizarre deaths. Not all of these are horror (though many are). The plots range from sadistic killers to vacations gone bad to children’s fantasies gone awry. Most are live action, but some are claymation or animated. Some send chills down your spine while others are quite poignant, and another references The Three Stooges.
Some of Radio Of Horror’s favorites:A is for Amatuer gets the ball rolling with an action packed romp about a beginner level assassin. The most bizarre short was D for Deloused directed by Robert Morgan who is known for directing Tool music videos which are also bafflingly creepy. Believe that this stop motion animated freakshow of beheadings and bugs will make your skin crawl. E is for Equilibrium switches the tone to something completely different with castaways…

I am not sure if this is part of a series or what but we recently viewed this docucumentry film about a group of filmmakers who go to Clophill Bedfordshire and try to look into the story of the haunted run down church that was used to practice Black Masss,witch craft Satan worship and other things that go bump in the night, you know like that song with Ozzy Osbourne. From the people who made the Zombie Diaries (not to be confused with Diary of the Living Dead by George Romero) comes Paranormal Diaries: Clophill a movie made by a England Paranormal ghost hunter Kevin Gates. Now I assume this is going to be part of a series of films. These are real paranormal investigators so this movie is more document than horror movie scare fest with found footage lazy film making. The movie comes from Image Entertainment and Pam and I watched it last night. Now hot on the heels of the worn out franchise Paranormal Activity we get another of these paranormal films. It seems like the only two kinds of Horror movies, demon or ghost movies. This is all we have seen from the Horror genre besides remakes over the last few years, we get a LOT of direct to dvd movies which should be put in theaters NATION WIDE, like The Only Lovers left alive, Maniac(yes a remake but a remake BELOVED by people), Kiss of the Damned, In Fear, and more. For every film like Sinister or The Conjuring that does well you get another crappy Paranormal Activity movie or The Devil Inside or Devils Due. I am getting board with every to do with it.
The first guest I ever interviewed for Radio of Horror back in October 2007 at the Rock and Shock Convention was on the behest of my wife Steve from Ghost Hunsters and it was the most boring interview ever one line answers and very little to say about the show it self. It was recently announced he was returning to the show on syfy channel.
If your really into this genre of filmmaking and love the Ghost Hunter shows then check it out, if you pick it up expecting a horror movie based on the cover its not a horror movie.
Ever read the original comics I am shocked these got published back in the Bronze age of comics mid 70s-80s.
The original story ran for 81 issues during the resurgence of Horror comics in the 70s. The ban by the fucked up and stupid as shit comic code authority had lifted its horror problem and Tomb of Dracula Werewolf by Night and many others got their own book.
Ghost Rider aka Johnny Blaze was the original. If you read Thunderbolts he’s GR again there is also a car driving rider but I have not picked up that book.
Jim shooter was the editor on the book and had a rotating case of people working on it.
The book was filled with GR fighting demons monsters and a lot of devil worshippers and Satan cults and freaks. This book was DARK REALLY FUCKED UP AND MORBID at times. Makes you wonder why the movies staring Nic Cage were not more dark than they were. They had the devil theme and grave yards but a satanic cult would have added a bit more to the story.
Other Marvel heroes showed up and GR even joined the Champions a short lived team of west coast heroes led by Angel from the X-Men. Karen Page former DareDevil girl friend had her Hollywood carear in Ghost Rider till it bottomed out and she became a whore and drug addict.
As the series went on it got darker and Ghost Rider got meaner. John was trying to free his soul from Mephisto and even learns who the demon with in him is. Zarathos a vengeance demon. Hence the title Spirit of Vengeance. After the book was cancelled John would return in vol 2 in 1990 learning he had a brother Danny Ketch and Dan would be come the new Ghost Rider this time with a more darker biker look. This was used for Cages costume in the film.
Ghost Rider is currently part of the Thunderbolts let’s by The Red Hulk and can be seen every month in that book by Marvel.
In the 1990s we had the wave of the bad girl comics. Vampirella returned Witchblade debut, ninja Shi, Angela the warrior Angel from Spawn. Who has now been sent to the Marvel Universe and revealed to be the sister THOR never knew he had. (Disney look a red head with bigger boobs than Jessica Rabbit.)
On top of all this there was one indie company that went from 1991-2002. CHAOS COMICS, founded by Brian Pulido it was all horror comics not for kids and nothing but violent dark comics. Lady Death, EVIL Ernie, Chastity, Purgatori, were some of the biggest names.
They also published the first comics for the movies Halloween , STATICK X, AND the worst band ever Insane Clown Posse. As well as some wrestlers like the Undertaker and Chyna. CHASTITY & Halloween, were the only two I really got hooked on.
Lady Death had an animated movie come straight to dvd, EVIL Ernie was suppose to have a live action film with the band KISS involved in the project, I am not sure what happened to it.
CHASTITY and Chaos have come back thru Dynamite Entertainment in a great way. Chastity #1 hit the shelves this past Wed, and I loved her new back story. Purgatori will be getting her own book again. I look forward to see what else comes from the former company.
A new horror movie staring Eric Bana (Troy, The Time Travler’s Wife) about a cop Sgt Ralph Sarchie real account of a possession in New York City years ago. He is not a man of faith and does not believe in the cross any more. After a weird break in at the NY Zoo, he begins to question reality and his sanity when he starts witnessing some strange events in his life. Its all connected to three painters all former soldiers dishonorable discharged.
The memoirs of the former police officer tilted BEWARE THE NIGHT are the inspiration for this Jerry Bruckheimer produced film. Its more based on the cop him self who is a self proclaimed demonoligist. He has worked on 25 cases involving demons. If you believe in that sort of thing. Olivia Munn former gaming goddess of Attack of the Show cont that movie career she tries so hard to have.
I my self am a skeptic of the occult infill I see it for my self.
It has some cool atmosphere and the character that Bana plays is more interesting than the movie it self sometimes. These EXORCIST movies are not offering anything we have not seen before and that’s very boring.
The movie is out now and play at Leominster Entertainment Cinema and Black Stone Valley in Millbury MA.
It just occured to me that tonight’s show has a lot to do with faith and God and stuff I questions and believe in. My gf recently found out I believe in God and she is an Atheist. She still loves me and she finds it funny. Tonight’s show we have from the movie Way of the Wicked which stars Christine Slater and Vinnie Jones the director Kevin Carraway. its a religious supernatural thriller. But before that we have the female cenobite from Clive Barker’s Hellraiser 2 Hellbound Barbie Wilde. Pam and I also talk about the passing of H.R. Giger, Garou Wolfman and the new GODZILLA and The Sacrement.
