Murdered Soul Survivor

Play as a ghost detective solve you own murder in Salem Massachusetts. These are all cool aspects of a game I have been looking forward too for a few months. Then it came out and I was not nearly as excited. Its an ok game and the plot is really good with a who dun it feel. But the game play is really simple and not nearly as detective as it could be.
It really feels dumb downed and when your trying to find clues its just looking around for highlighted areas u press the action button for.

You can help other spirits move on but its doing the same thing your doing for your own story line. Maybe possessing someone to do your work for you and looking thru areas asking true or false questions and not just randomly selecting answers would have been the right way to program the game.
Combat is sneaking up on demons and grabbing them and this part of the game almost has nothing to do with the game it self till the very end its revealed who’s behind the demons, so bear with some uninteresting combat. If you could possess a cop and use them to do limited combat that would be very cool.

Ronan O’ Connor is kind of interesting but the dialog he is written is not nearly as cool as the game developers think it is. The character Joy is this punk girl with an attitude trying to find her Medium ( someone who can talk to ghosts) mother. I wish we could have more of Salem to explore the bits of town we got don’t look much like Salem in some regards and in others it does. Showing some of the major landmarks in Salem would have been nice. The atmosphere and mood of the game is very very spooky at times and playing with the lights off in the dark can really get you in the mood.

If you want to check it out sure but I would wait till the price comes down a bit as this is not worth the full price they charge 50-60$$

Honeymoon

Check out this cool looking new Horror movie.

Young newlyweds Paul (Harry Treadaway) and Bea (Rose Leslie) travel to remote lake country for their honeymoon, where the promise of private romance awaits them. Shortly after arriving, Paul finds Bea wandering and disoriented in the middle of the night. As she becomes more distant and her behavior increasingly peculiar, Paul begins to suspect something more sinister than sleepwalking took place in the woods.

Treadaway (CONTROL) and Leslie (HBO’s GAME OF THRONES) give captivating leading performances as a couple that takes new love to disturbing depths. With romance slowing giving way to terror, writer/director Leigh Janiak puts her unique stamp on this intimate, chilling thriller.

Tarot Witch of the Black Rose

Posted in Comic Books, DC Comics, entertainment, Goth, Horror Babes, Monsters, witches on July 18, 2014 by chrisdsav

Ever read the comic by Jim Balent. Jim worked on Catwoman vol 1 for DCcomics during the Knightfall storyline. He drew Selina Kyle as one of the most beautiful bad ass heroines in comics.

Jim drew almost every issue of the title up until it was ended and restarted by Mike Alred.

Jim started his own company Broadsword

image

and launched Tarot a bit monthly comic about a witch from Salem her boy friend John and her sister Raven Hex. A comic he wanted to do and with no restrictions on how he wanted to do it.

This comic is no means for kids none what so ever. He can do the book Very cartoonist at times but still VERY ADULT. SOME have called it soft core porn others freedom of speech and ART. He draws the woman very strong and big chested nudity is in every issue. Jim draws the female body in a way you never see in American comics. Nipples and the labia shown. Anitomically correct hell yeah.
Sex LOTS of it, real lore witch craft yup and this is where his big female audience comes in.
His female demographic is huge. Woman love strong empowered characters. Jim said he bases John Tarots bf on him self a former grave digger in collage. Raven Hex is my fav character next to John a dark witch with a mean EVIL streak and a great gothic look.

Alien novelizations

Posted in aliens, Books, SciFi on July 16, 2014 by chrisdsav

Alien

Alan Dean Foster the author has written more book adaptations of screen plays than any other author I can think of.
We could go thru the list but it would fill so many pages
If you want the full list go here
http://www.alandeanfoster.com/version2.0/frameset.htm

One set sent to me by Titan Books is the ALIEN books mainly films 1-3 all black with sleek covers, ALIEN is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Lots of companies are getting behind the anniversary and their is a new video game coming out in Oct.

Alan works from the original scripts and published the novel before the movie ALIEN came out. Now this is usually done to drum up interest in the film it self.
A lot of the time you get extra cool bits of info the author may make up about the characters to help flesh them out more or its some scene in the script that got cut form the movie it self.
Its rare you see reissues of books based on movies ALIEN happens to be that kind of GREAT franchise to warrant such a treatment.

Last year I got the Graphic Novel of ALIEN re-released to me from Titan books by Archie Goodwin and Walter Simonson. The original festches big bucks on ebay.

Chaos Comics

Posted in Comic Books, Goth, Horror Babes, Monsters, Satan, vampires on July 12, 2014 by chrisdsav

In the 1990s we had the wave of the bad girl comics. Vampirella returned Witchblade debut, ninja Shi, Angela the warrior Angel from Spawn. Who has now been sent to the Marvel Universe and revealed to be the sister THOR never knew he had. (Disney look a red head with bigger boobs than Jessica Rabbit.)

On top of all this there was one indie company that went from 1991-2002. CHAOS COMICS, founded by Brian Pulido it was all horror comics not for kids and nothing but violent dark comics. Lady Death, EVIL Ernie, Chastity, Purgatori, were some of the biggest names.

They also published the first comics for the movies Halloween , STATICK X, AND the worst band ever Insane Clown Posse. As well as some wrestlers like the Undertaker and Chyna. CHASTITY & Halloween, were the only two I really got hooked on.

Lady Death had an animated movie come straight to dvd, EVIL Ernie was suppose to have a live action film with the band KISS involved in the project, I am not sure what happened to it.

CHASTITY and Chaos have come back thru Dynamite Entertainment in a great way. Chastity #1 hit the shelves this past Wed, and I loved her new back story. Purgatori will be getting her own book again. I look forward to see what else comes from the former company.

GODZILLA: The Art of Destruction

Posted in Books, Monsters, movies on July 10, 2014 by chrisdsav

Insight Edition has a great behind the scene GODZILLA book. Very similar to past books they have done for PACIFIC RIM.

You go behind the scenes of the monster designs for Muto 1 and 2 and Godzilla himself.
Early sketch designs of what the three monsters were going to look like before the final design shown on screen.
This book is more art book than making of the film, Its still a great book for Godzilla fans.

The Author is Mark Cotta Vaz,  I can’t imagine what the extensive work he did yo get all the info he needed from the studio to get this published in time for the releases of Legendary Pictures Godzilla.

Kevin Smith’s TUSK

Posted in Comedy, entertainment, Monsters, movies, news on July 9, 2014 by chrisdsav

Tusk poster WEB READYA new film from the man who brought us Clerks, 1 2, and the upcoming 3.
TUSK staring that creepy kid from the 6th sence and Justin Long.
Kevin Smith last foray into thriller was Red State and was met with mixed feelings, how will his first straight up horror movie fair. Who knows?? I will buy it I own everything this guys does ….WHY? cuz he speaks my language as much as Josh Wheadon does.

Below is a post from Kevin Smith him self

There’ve been a few movie websites reporting I might’ve been involved in a BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE misinformation campaign, at the behest of Warner Brothers, director Zack Snyder and producer Chuck Roven. The idea was that everything I’ve ever said about the forthcoming big screen team-up of the World’s Finest is a carefully constructed web of intrigue to throw movie sites off the real track.

Since last year at this time, I’ve been enjoying an unexpected period of prolificacy with screenplays. It all started with CLERKS III and was followed by me finishing nearly 5 scripts in a year, including the fall release TUSK. After TUSK, I penned ANTI-CLAUS (formerly COMES THE KRAMPUS) and a sitcom pilot that’s now seeing some action (both co-written with Professor Andy McElfresh from the EDUMACATION podcast). Then I wrote YOGA HOSERS and now I’m in the middle of MOOSE JAWS.

However, none of those has been a fake BATS v SUPES script. C’mon, kids… No major studio would let a guy like me near their franchises – even if it was for a dummy script meant solely to fool the news sites. (Don’t know if it’s true or not, but this Twitter user is claiming credit for a fugazi script that’s currently being reviewed online.)

No, anything I’ve said about “Milo and Sage” was based on an image Zack showed me while hosting a MAN OF STEEL online event at Yahoo many months back. The little I know of the flick beyond that I learned from some cats involved (though never BatFleck himself; as I’ve said a few times now on the Babble-On podcast, beyond email, I haven’t spoken to Ben in years). Fun story, though.

While you’re here, however? That script for TUSK that I wrote? We turned into an actual movie that’s coming out this fall from A24. Oddly enough, it’s the best film I’ve ever made (or at the very least, the most interesting). Thank you all for saying #WalrusYes on Twitter last year. Can’t wait to show you the movie. In the meantime, here’s the poster…

RIP Author CJ Henderson

Posted in Books, news, tv on July 8, 2014 by chrisdsav

Its with Sad news I must inform my fellow horror brothers and sisters that CJ Henderson passed away on Friday July 4th from Cancer. He was married to a fashion designer and has one daughter Erica, he lived in NY NY, you will be missed CJ
He is really well known for bringing back one of my favorite TV characters Kolchak The Night Stalker.
CJ came on Radio of Horror in 2009, I met him at Rock and Shock 2007 and we always bumped into each other at conventions.

The first of C.J. Henderson’s series characters, hardboiled detective Jack Hagee is one of the toughest private eyes ever created. Appearing in novels, short stores and even graphic novels, this New York City-based hard case earned the author acres of praise when he first arrived on the scene. Ex-military intelligence, calculating, brutal and honest, Hagee seemed at first to be nothing more than a Mike Hammer clone. The wit, vitality and honor of the character, however, quickly established him as a breath of fresh air in the over-crowded field of cookie-cutter P.I.s. With his novels returning to print in 2012, things have never looked better for this one-of-a-kind character.

Countess Dracula

Posted in Goth, Horror Babes, vampires on July 5, 2014 by chrisdsav

Put out by Synapse Films under their Hammer Collection, this class is gothic horror Stars Ingrid Pitt. It’s a slight take on the Elizabeth Bathory Story.
The blu ray has a decent number of bonus material, a commentary and a look back on Ingrid Pitt life. I still never understand why a trailer is called a BONUS FEATURE. WTF?????
The setting of the movie is fantastic and the set design is great to look at. The woman in this movie are some of the hottest you will see of that era. Hammer studios was famous for blood babes and their boobs LOTS OF BOOBS.
If you want a non sparkle bogged down romantic vampire movie check it out. The pacing is a bit of a stretch but it’s not too bad. I thought the ending comes a little fast.

This was one of the last films the studio put out before they went out of business in 1974.

Deliver us from Evil

Posted in entertainment, ghosts, Leominster Movie Theater, movies, Satan, Theater on July 4, 2014 by chrisdsav

A new horror movie staring Eric Bana (Troy, The Time Travler’s Wife) about a cop Sgt  Ralph Sarchie real account of a possession in New York City years ago. He is not a man of faith and does not believe in the cross any more. After a weird break in at the NY Zoo, he begins to question reality and his sanity when he starts witnessing some strange events in his life. Its all connected to three painters all former soldiers dishonorable discharged.
The memoirs of the former police officer tilted BEWARE THE NIGHT are the inspiration for this Jerry Bruckheimer produced film. Its more based on the cop him self who is a self proclaimed demonoligist.  He has worked on 25 cases involving demons. If you believe in that sort of thing. Olivia Munn former gaming goddess of Attack of the Show cont that movie career she tries so hard to have.

I my self am a skeptic of the occult infill I see it for my self.
It has some cool atmosphere and the character that Bana plays is more interesting than the movie it self sometimes. These EXORCIST movies are not offering anything we have not seen before and that’s very boring.

The movie is out now and play at Leominster Entertainment Cinema and Black Stone Valley in Millbury MA.

NIGHTBREED

Posted in entertainment, Monsters, movies, news, websites on July 2, 2014 by chrisdsav
NIGHTBREED: THE DIRECTOR’S CUT Update!!

We have big news to report to you today regarding a film that we announced almost over a year ago in July. In collaboration with Morgan Creek Productions and Clive Barker’s Seraphim, Inc., the long-awaited NIGHTBREED: THE DIRECTOR’S CUT is scheduled for a release of October 28th and will be available in two retail versions: A 5,000 Unit Limited-Edition 3-Disc Blu-ray™ set and a Special Edition DVD & Blu-ray™ Combo.

In 1990, the film was released theatrically nationwide. However, the movie studio edited the film extensively and several scenes were excised or rearranged – much to Director Clive Barker’s disappointment. Since then, a fan-driven movement was created (www.OccupyMidian.com) to see the full version of the film restored and re-released.  Now, after 25 years, fans and horror enthusiasts can finally experience NIGHTBREED like never before! Scream Factory, in conjunction with Warner Bros., was able to find the long-thought-missing original film elements and combed through over 600 boxes to locate not only the lost scenes but a treasure trove of never-before-seen footage as well. With nearly an hour of lost footage meticulously restored, the result is not only a more faithful adaptation of Clive Barker’s book Cabal, but also what he originally intendedNIGHTBREED to be.

Official statement from Clive Barker: “This is film history and beyond my wildest dreams of realization. When Scream Factory told me that they found the NIGHTBREED film footage I was gob-smacked! This is the ultimate validation of choices made by myself and Mark Miller [of Seraphim Films] all the way back in 2008. As we embarked down the road of attempting to track down the lost footage, we looked at each other and said, ‘Maybe one day they’ll find it.’ It’s my pleasure to announce that the day has come. Speaking personally, I didn’t allow myself to believe that it would. Even if we did find some footage (which we did in 2009 in the form of heavily degraded VHS tapes) and even if we did find a company willing to release the film (which we did in 2013 with Scream Factory, God bless them) the prospect of finding the actual lost film materials was remoter than I’d wanted to admit out loud.  If the footage could not be found by those who had worked closest on it the same year it had been released, then what were the odds we’d be able to find anything 20 years on? But Scream Factory, in their commendable determination, kept up the search and thanks to them total reconstruction has been made a possibility. There’s never been a reconstruction that’s had as little chance of succeeding and yet has succeeded on as many fronts as this film has. It’s unprecedented. To now have a movie that we can put together in the way that I fully intended it to be seen when I first set out to make this film in 1989 is extraordinary.  The project has moved inexorably to this conclusion. Fate and the hard work of individuals such as Mark Miller, Russell Cherrington, Phil and Sarah Stokes, Occupy Midian, Morgan Creek, and ultimately, Scream Factory have made this a possibility and I could not be happier.”

Details on the two retail sets are as follows:
