Did you ever lose your job …Ever think you will never amount to anything other than menial work beneath you …Work that makes you feel defeated in life. This is something I feel a lot. I have not found a full time job in years that was not temporary or retail related. I read what the premises of what Bloodstain was and I latched onto this comic immediately.
Blood Stain tell the story of a young girl who can’t find a job and in the end takes a job working for what we perceive to be a Mad Scientist. The setting of the comic looks like something out of a twisted Disney cartoon and that’s exactly what it is. Artist Writer Linda Sejic who has been on this radio show was inspired to draw by Disney cartoons as a little girl. She has this great colorful visual style not seen in comics. Blood Stain looks like a Cartoon on paper. She has such a great flair for this art it suits the story.
The characters are both funny and engaging making me speed read thru vol 1 and more recently vol 2. You got to love how characters speak in different speech bubbles like Dr. Vlad Stein who has this icy death like tone according to Elliot Torres the main character. The facial expressions are captured perfectly in this story.
If you want to know more about Blood Stain and the author/artists check out my interview with her below and pick up both vols now at your local Comic Book Store, In MA I recommend Thats Entertainment, The Hall of Comics, Bedrock Comics, and Harrison Comics.
