Very Sad to hear the passing of LEONARD NIMOY aka Spock from Star Trek and Galvatron from Transformers, and so many other roles he will be missed

His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Mr. Nimoy announced last year that he had the disease, attributing it to years of smoking, a habit he had given up three decades earlier. He had been hospitalized earlier in the week.

Spock

He will always be Mr.Moundshroud from the Halloween Tree

Comic Book Spotlight: DEMOGOBLIN

OK so I kind of did one of these last year when Amazing Spider-Man 2 came out and we covered The Gentleman.(don’t bother reading it that whole story line Sony created will go no where now that they cancelled Amazing Spider-Man 3 and the Sinister Six movie.)
SO now were going back to Spider-man once again with more of a Horror theme covering The Demogoblin
Created in Spectacular Spider-Man #147 by Sal Buscema and Gerry Conway.

After losing fights with Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man #312, Jason Philip Macendale Jr., aka the Hobgoblin, took advantage of the Inferno crisis. (a X-Men Crossover that spread throughout the whole Marvel Universe, the closest we have come to a Massive Horror crossover event in the Marvel Universe.) Following several demons back to their lair and confronting their demonic lord, N’Astirh. N’Astirh was so amused by this human he granted his wish and unbeknownst to Jason grafted a demon to his soul and transforming him into the Demonic Hobgoblin.

Demogoblin 1

Once again defeated by Spider-Man, Hobgoblin teamed up with Carrion to take out Spider-Man and they were both caught in a gas Leak explosion in Spectacular Spider-Man #163. Doctor Strange tried to help Hobgoblin but he was too far gone at that point, in Doctor Strange vol 2 #11 during the Act of Vengeance, Strange cast a spell and made Jason believed his face had returned to normal, this only further drove him to madness.

Demo Goblin 2
Several months later in Spider-Man #6 & 7 he kidnapped a bunch of people and really believed to be on a mission from God, kept an innocent child to him self while battling Spider-Man and the Dan Ketch Ghost Rider. At this point Jason was so far gone and the Demon had taken over.

In Amazing Spider-Man # 334-339 and Spider-Man# 18-23 Hobgoblin was involved in both the Return of the Sinister Six and Revenge of the Sinister Six storylines, he had replaced Kraven the Hunter who was one of the original members but had died during Fearful Symmetry Kravens Last Hunt. He was still on a path to kill all sinners and believed Doctor Octopus group was the way to do it.
Shortly after he tried to pick a fight with Moon Night in Moon Knight #33 thinking him a sinner since he used to be a Mercenary, makes you wonder why he never went after the Punisher? Of course why didn’t he kill him self as Jason use to be one as well…thats a sin right its very confusing.

Demo Goblin 3
In Ghost Rider vol 2 #16 and 17, the Hobgoblin kidnapped Francis Ketch, Danny’s adopted mother from her church. He believed he was once again doing God’s work hearing her cries to God to save the soul of her daughter Barbara, who had died a few months ago. Danny as Ghost Rider, and Johnny Blaze the original Ghost Rider and Spider-Man showed up to stop Hobgoblin. They rescued Dan’s mother and noticed a transformation, as if Jason was fighting to get control of his body back.

demogoblin 5
In Web of Spider-Man #84 the two beings trapped in Hobgoblin’s body started fighting for control the combination of Hellfire form Ghost Rider’s Dan and John and the constant fighting had taken its toll on Hobgoblin and the demon separated from Jason in Web of Spider-Man # 86. Now he was called Demogoblin. Now the Demon wanted to kill Macendale for all the sins he had committed and hunted him down eventually teaming up with the Spider-Man Doppelganger in Spider-Man #24 during the Infinity War story Line. (Another Marvel multi book cross over)

Demo Goblin 4

During a cross over with Ghost Rider/ Johnny Blaze Spirits of Vengeance and Web Of Spider-Man, Spidey had to keep Jason alive to stand trial for a murder he committed. While in the sewer he ran in to Blaze and the Rider and Venom as they were hunting Deathwatch who was trying to resurrect their leader. It was a lot of characters and Demogoblin and the Spider Doppelganger were there. They failed to kill Macendale.

Demo Goblin 6
Demo then found his way into the messed up serial killer Carnage family during the Maximum Carnage story which ran thru all the Spider-Man summer titles in 1993. (too many to list here). The Battle waged all over New York with hundreds dead and only thru the combined efforts of Spider-Man, Iron first, Black Cat, Venom, Morbius, Nightwatch, Cloak and Dagger, Deathlok, Captain America, and Firestar were they able to stop Carnage, Shriek, Carrion, The Dopple Ganger and DemoGoblin. The Spider Doppelganger was killed by Carnage and the DemoHobgoblin was captured but got away shortly after. He would encounter Venom and Morbius the Living Vampire again in the Venom Sinners Takes All mini series.

Demo Goblin 7
In Spider-Man # 46,47,48 The Hobgoblin wanted to put an end to his demonic half once and for all. Having obtained ultimate strength from Kraven the Hunter’s son The Grimm Hunter, Hobgoblin got into a fight with Demogoblin in a church and while the church was collapsing around them, Demo saw a young boy about to be crushed and risked his own life to save him by Spider-Man. In doing so his strength gave out and he was crushed to death.

Hobgoblin later tried to kidnap his own son was foiled by Spider-Man and was sent to jail. Eventually got a cybernetic upgrade from Norman Osbourne was defeated by Spider-Man and then killed in jail by the original Hobgoblin Rodrick Kingsley in Hobgoblin Lives # 1.

Why did I start this with a minor character in the Goblin saga? Mainly because I always thought he was the coolest of the Goblins. Is he dead?? Well he was a demon from HELL, can you really kill them? Doppelganger Spider-Man came back in the 2012 mini Series CARNAGE, and no one seems to stay dead in comics forever. We shall see.
Not The End?…..

American Horror Story : Hotel

Posted in death, horror, news, tv on February 26, 2015 by chrisdsav

Lady Gaga and American Horror Story? It’s a match made in monster heaven. This is ok news if your a Gaga fan, I personally don’t care.

The big news is not only the casting, but also the reveal of Season 5’s theme. Each year, American Horror Story has a subtitle since Season 2.

This obliterates the prevailing fan theory that Season 5 would cover the gruesome fallout of chemical warfare. Instead, we should probably expect something a little closer to The Shining or Disney’sTower of Terror, but with blood and guts. If we’re getting another ghost story like season 5 then I’m bored already.

But spooky bellhops and mysterious maids aside, what can we expect from Lady Gaga? Well, we already know that Season 5 will (a) have a modern setting and (b) undergo a fairly radical re-invention. There were many who hoped that re-invention would entice series starJessica Lange to stay. I don’t think that’s happening I ALSO don’t get the huge speak of Lange. She plays the same bitch character every season. Not really something I care to see 5 seasons in a row.
We will have to wait and see how the season goes.

Actor Thomas Dekker

Devil May Cry DMC RIP

Posted in Demons, horror, news, Video Games on February 19, 2015 by chrisdsav

Announced in December Ninja Theory is coming out with a Special Edition of DMC for PS4 and X-Box One later this year. Also we are getting another Devil game but not the game we were expecting.
Now I figured be a good time to go thru a review of the game. The original came out in 2013, its the 5th entry in the series and a reboot after the dismal performance of part 4.
You once again play as Dante and this time he has this gothic Punk noir look to him and his universe as well as the other characters. He is younger than the previous incarnation and even has a site gag about the way his hair would look long and white and flowing like a rock star. This time he has a short spikey hair swears a lot and cracks more jokes than Nathan Drake (from The Uncharted series) when trouble arrives.
The new look really helped Capcom’s fledging series bring it back up to what it was with Devil May Cry 1 and 3 ( I only ever played 1).

The story has Dante in Limbo City, teaming with his long lost brother Virgil and a Witch named Kat. They battle their way thru demons and monster sna other disgusting hordes of evil. The gameplay is very similar as the other Devil games but with more fluidity and better movement.

The Dante of DmC is a young man who has no respect for authority or society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast. He is now discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. This split personality has a real impact on gameplay with Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, transforming his Rebellion sword on the fly to dramatically affect both combat and movement. The graphics really stand out and show the gothic horror game play at its best.

dmc2
Dante heads into battle with his sword Rebellion, which can now transform into an axe, a scythe, and a grappling hook (that works much like Nero’s Snatch ability), and a few other weapons. This allows for Dante to have access to all of his weaponry, similar to Devil May Cry 4, which the player can cycle through the D-Pad.

The new Dante is a Nephilim (half-demon/half-angel), instead of being a half-human, half-demon hybrid.[2] Because of this change in lineage, game mechanics were also changed to reflect this, utilizing the trigger buttons to access angelic or demonic aligned weapons
This is your typical hack and slash game play its senseless violance and chopping and dicing action you come to expect from this game series. Dante is voiced and modeled after actor Tim Philips.

DmC_box_art
The new version coming out will most likely have all the DLC content including Virgils mission at the end of the game. This most likly means we are getting another Devil May Cry game in the not too distant future, the unfortunate news is they are going back to the original series and ignoring the reboot. Which is a shame as this game I had more fun playing than the previous ones.

Neil Blomkamp’s Aliens

Posted in aliens, news, SciFi on February 19, 2015 by chrisdsav

Huge ALIEN news announced yesterday.

20th Century Fox has closed a deal with director Neill Blomkamp to develop a new “Alien” movie, sources confirm.

The untitled sci-fi project is separate from “Prometheus 2,” which Fox is still making with Ridley Scott.

Blomkamp, who directed “District 9″ and the upcoming Sony feature “Chappie,” had been teasing the project in recent months but said the extra-terrestrial reboot was likely abandoned. It was supposed to star “Alien” veteran Sigourney Weaver.

It’s unclear whether Weaver is still attached to the movie. Michael Biehn was also suggested to return to the role if Hicks.

According to insiders, the new “Alien” takes place years after the “Prometheus” sequel. Scott is producing both films through hisproduction company Scott Free.

“Prometheus,” also distributed by Fox, was “loosely based” on the “Alien” franchise and earned over $400 million worldwide. But the3D movie opened to mixed reviews, and Fox hopes Blomkamp, who last directed “Elysium,” can take the franchise to the next level.

Dead Snow 1, and 2 Red vs Dead
I finally had a chance to see this trapped in the snow on Saturday afternoon with a friend before setting off for the 40th Anniversary of the Sci-fi Film fest in Somerville.
In the first movie a group of friends head to a cabin dig up some old Nazi gold and have to deal with a Zombie Army rising up. This movie has a plot similar to Pirates of the Caribean Curse fo the Black Perl. The Gold is cursed and the only way to stop the Zombies is by giving back the gold. The survivor learsn this too late cuts off his arm and then has the Zombie leader arm grafted to him. This helps the plot of part two tho as he is able to raise an army of dead Russians and with the help of a group of American ZOmbie hunters they turn the tide of battle and defeat the Nazis. The ability to raise the dead with a new power that each Herzog the leader of the Nazis and Martin our hero. It has a lot of laughs and is more horror than humor I would skip the last 5 mins of the ending to Red vs Dead its not worth watching and disgusting. Its great to see something done unique with Zombies. Even though we have seen Nazi Zombies before in video Games there are not that many films doing anything with them.
Both movies were directed by Tommy Wirkola, who also directed Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters.

Zombie Killers: Elephant GraveYard
DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE, I watched the first half and that was too much what a boring and uninteresting attempt at trying to be the Walking Dead. I interviewed the Director Harrison Smith, and he said he pleaded with the studio to reconsider and make something else. He thought the genre was too over saturated and his movie would be lost. If they made this 10 years ago , it would have been perfect timing.

The Battery
Another movie I recomend you avoiding, uninteresting and you get 40 mins of guys by themselves doing nothing but arguing and bitching and acting like children. I tried to like the characters and find some interest in this Zombie crap fest from Scream Factory, but alas I could not.

Fetish Fair Fleamarket

Posted in Adult, Bondage, Festival, Valentines on February 12, 2015 by chrisdsav

The largest and lowest-cost event for the BDSM (bondage and discipline, sadomasochism, or sadism and masochism) Community in New England bringing thousands of participants together with vendors from all over the U.S. and Canada and introductory classes from local, national, and international presenters to suit just about any taste.

blog_bdsm_cuffs
What better way to kick off Valentines Day weekend then discussing something connected the darker side of sexuality. Every year in RI we have the Fet Flea put on by the New England Leather Alliance. This weekend events take place between the 13-16 in Warwick RI at the Crown Plaza Hotel, right near TF Green Airport.

The Purpose of this event is to get people to open up their Plain vanilla sex lives and explore their sexuality with their partner a little bit more. Thru Bondage and other overly Taboo things to do in bed. Some of the classes you can attend are like the Welcome Wagon.
A lot of these classes are to really help people understand the safety of what they are getting into. The Problem a lot of people in this community have with a novel like 50 Shades of Grey is it spits in the face of everything they are trying to teach people at Fet Flea.
On of the heads of the fest said” People read that novel or will see the movie and just be like its ok to hit her and lets take our sex life to unsafe places.

The Flea is sponsored by Amazing.net. A adult store with dvds, whips, Condoms, dildos and other sex toys.

The Fet does a lot of work with a network to help abuse and other charities.
logo
The Fet On Friday night will have A Rocky Horror Picture show with RKO as it’s the 40th Aniversary of the famous play. On Saturday is the Valentines Day Massacre Dance. A very hardcore adult oriented dance and not for the faint of heart. The Entry to the dance is differant than the price of the Flea it self which can be found on the website.

The Fet is running a contest as well
Purchase your FFF #44 tickets online and be entered to win a genuine leather dungeon whip! (retail value $125)

It’s an all black leather, braided whip that’s perfect for dungeon play as it’s small and sturdy. No, it’s not a standard single tail, this whip is a cross between a whip and flogger, with the end resembling more of a cat-o-nines having several leather tails.

Get your tickets by THURSDAY NOON!!! https://nelaonline.org/tickets
https://nelaonline.org/fetish-fair-fleamarket/winter-fleamarket

Worried about food then the Hotel will, have you covered when you come you can see the low cost food they have on hand.

This groups biggest thing is safety and showing you that kinky sex between you and your partner should be SAFE and just because its filled with pain and torture in a sexual way it can be fun and enjoyable. Vanilla Sex is BORING VERY VERY BORING. Make sure what you and your partner no matter who they are understand what is going to be done with them before you do it. BDSM is great sexual fun if your Gay or straight, Man or Woman.
IF you hate 50 Shades of Grey and really want to understand the world of BDSM then please come to Warwick RI this weekend and experience something truly amazing.

Hannibal Season 3

Posted in DVD, entertainment, horror, Monsters, tv on February 9, 2015 by chrisdsav

We are still a few weeks away from the return of Hannibal on NBC.
I thought I would go back over what we have so far.

image

The show stars Mads Mikkelsen as Dr Hannibal Letter. (Casino Royal), Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix Trilogy), and by season 2 Gillian Anderson (The X-files) Hannibal is psychologist who helps Fishburne and the FBI on high profile serial killer cases. Many of which he him self is committing.
Darcy’s Will Graham has the ability to see the way the killer does and makes for an excellent recreation of how the killer takes its prey.
Fishburne is fine in the show and his real life wife Gina Tores plays his wife on the show but he seems out of place in the cast at times. He comes in and out of scenes just to move Graham into place with Hannibal.
Speaking of Hannibal what an amazing performance by Mads, a Dutch actor who I have only seen in Casino Royal as the bond villian.
He really elevates the role of the sadistic smooth talking and charming cannibal. Anthony Hopkins made this role what it is and won an Academy Award for his performance in Silence of the Lambs. As a TV series we really get a sense of who Hannibal is.

This is one of the best shows on TV no one is watching. I think the writing is one of the smartest ever. Unfortunately the average American audience is not going to see it for any more than a show about the Cannibal Hannibal Lecter. The show is so much more than that. Its one if the most visually beautiful horror dramas on TV. The way the killer does there work is poetic and gothicly disturbing in ways we have not seen in so many years.
The first two seasons are on DVD and blu ray loaded with bonus material like how they design the twisted elaborate looking kills as well as the normal interviews and gag reels.

Season three will have a time jump and a lot has changed almost a new dynamic for the show.
They will be some of what we expect from the up aiming season.

1. “True Blood” actress Rutina Wesley is set to play Francis Dolarhyde’s love interest Reba McClane. For the infamous tooth fairy or Dolarhyde’s character, Screenrant informed “Hobbit” star Richard Armitage is set to play the role. Ecumenical News also revealed Tao Okamoto, who will play Lady Murasaki and Nina Arianda, who will play Will Graham’s future wife in the series and will appear on its episode 8.

2. The plot of the series will have a time jump between its season 2 and 3. The storyline will be taking a lot of disparate elements from the novels “Hannibal Rising” and “Hannibal” and combining them together as part of the prod of the season.

3. Though “Hannibal” Season 3 trailer has been released, it does not reveal what happens to Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas). Are they dead or alive?

4. Glenn Fleshler, who was a bad guy in both ‘True Detective’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ will play another bad guy in “Hannibal” Season 3. He will be Mason Verger (Joe Anderson) caretaker, named Cordell. TVLine described the character as “quiet, very intelligent and definitely creepy” personal nurse to Mason.

Box Trolls Blu-ray review

Posted in DVD, entertainment, Fantasy, horror, horror/sci-fi cartoon, Monsters on February 5, 2015 by chrisdsav

On DVD and bluray last week is one of the years best films. From the company that brought us Caroline and Paranorman, Laika brings us Box Trolls. The story of a boy Eggs who is  adopted by junk collecting Trolls who live below the Victorian city of London. After meeting a young girl Winnie he discovers the world of humans and how his friends fish oil can and the other trolls are being hunted down. The movie has humor scares and life in it. With a real story of prejudice that can resonate today. Don’t always fest what’s different sometimes it can surprise you.

image

Its done with that same stop motion animation that the company is famous for, making this one of the most well put together animated movies of the year. Do you love those old Rnnk and Bass Holiday TV specials you will enjoy Boxtrolls. Based on the book Here be Monsters by Alan Snow from 2004.
The movie features Ben Kingsley, Ellie Fanning, Nick Frost, Toni Collette,Tracy Morgan and new comer Issac Hempstead Wright.

The movie came out in late September of last year and now on DVD and blu ray. The disk is loaded with bonus material, commentary with the film makers, five different featurettes about how they spent 2-3 years making this movie. Don’t forget this whole movie is  stop motion clay and plastic animation with very little CGI used. I love movies like Big Hero 6 or Monsters University but this is the type of movie you really have to give great credit to the developers for.

THE RETURN OF JOE DANTE

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on February 3, 2015 by chrisdsav

The director of Gremlins 1& 2 and The Howling had a rough few years he tried to get a movie done on kick starter and failed ( so did I, good to know I am in good company lol) But he’s back and with what looks like a great horror comedy check out the press release below.

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired all U.S. rights to the highly-anticipated horror comedy from renowned director Joe Dante.   Written by Alan Trezza (TV’s “Sanctuary”), BURYING THE EX stars Anton Yelchin (ODD THOMAS, FRIGHT NIGHT), Ashley Greene (TWILIGHT) and Alexandra Daddario (TV’s “True Detective”).  The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, is expected to be released in theaters and on VOD in the summer of 2015.  Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for the Image brands, made the announcement today.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with legendary filmmaker Joe Dante,” said Ward.  “He brings a unique vision and style to BURYING THE EX.  We are confident that his fans and the genre community will embrace the film.”

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashely Greene).  Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare.  Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her.  Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle.  Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate.  But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max …

Produced by Mary Cybriwsky (MIDNIGHT MAN), Carl Effenson (HIDE AWAY), David Johnson (THE PEOPLE SPEAK), Frankie Lindquist (REACH ME), Kyle Tekiela (A SISTER’S CAL) and Alan Trezza, the deal was negotiated by Mark Ward on behalf of RLJE/Image Entertainment and Cassian Elwes, CAA and Voltage Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers
