First up

Turrican Flashback

ININ Games will release on January 29th both the physical boxed and digitally eagerly anticipated and legendary Turrican collection – Turrican Flashback on Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation4.

Developed by legends in the video game industry and remastered by lifelong fans, Turrican’s long awaited return to the market is finally here with a prestigious and carefully selected collection of some of the most amazing titles. The endless exploration and challenge of the classic Turrican 1 & 2 explodes alongside the arcade perfection of Super Turrican and Mega Turrican in Turrican Flashback, bringing you 4 of action gaming’s finest examples of the genre.

Released originally on the classic home computer system, The Commodore Amiga, followed by sequels on Super Nintendo and Mega Drive, these remasters bring brand new elements to the tried and true formula offering both old and new fans something unique for this edition. Play tested and tailored by lifelong Turrican fans from across Europe, the new control scheme makes each Turrican game intuitive and easily accessible for all players as each button and command corresponds to action, and allows for even more precise shots and jumps than ever before.

For those who miss the scanlines and curvatures of retro monitors, Turrican Flashback is not just a travel through time in terms of the games, but even the presentation! Use one of the best CRT shaders in the industry and customize your display to bring the action as close to the way you remember it looking on your nostalgic monitor, or opt for the new dynamic pixel perfect display which allows you to minimize the on screen icons and focus entirely on the gorgeous in-game graphics which still stands the test of time!

SPACE INVADERS

Posted in Video Games, websites on January 25, 2021 by chrisdsav

Space Invaders is a Japanese shooting video game released in 1978 by Taito. It was developed by Tomohiro Nishikado, who was inspired by other media: Breakout, The War of the Worlds, and Star Wars, and its been redone and redone various times but this is the first time I can say in years I REALLY could not stop playing the game. Maybe its the music or the way the fluid controls feel when I’m playing it. ( only on PS4 I assume it feels the same on other consoles.) The following games are part of the Space Invader Forever Collection:
• Space Invaders Extreme
• Space Invaders Gigamax 4 SE
• Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders

Each one has its own amazing unique brand of vibrant visuals and a pulsing soundtrack. As a guy in the music industry for the last 13 years a sound track to a video game can really make you feel part of the game and this does it amazingly well. One part of the game has a very anime style feel to it and I was not a big fan of that mixture but SI EXTREME made me feel like it was the 90s again. Since I CANT and YOU SHOULD NOT go to arcades right now during the Pandemic order a copy fo this immersive experience today, Link below I’m curious if Hollywood would pay attention to this version of the game if they ever got that SI movie going only time will tell.

New Castlevania Scores

CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT – ORIGINAL VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACK 2XLP. Composed by Konami Kukeiha Club. Artwork by Jasmin Darnell. Available on three different colorways: 2X 180 Gram Black, Gold, and Bone (limited to 1,000 copies), 2X 180 Gram Bone / Silver Swirl with White splatter, and 2X 180 Gram Translucent Red colored vinyl. Expected to Ship Early November 2018. $35
Mondo, in partnership with Konami, is proud to present the soundtrack to one of the most iconic and important video games of all time: CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT.

Originally released for Playstation, SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT is considered one of the most essential video games of all time and one of the parents of the genre now known as ‘Metroidvania.’ The story follows Alucard, the son of Dracula, directly after the events of RONDO OF BLOOD, and his investigation into the sudden reappearance of his father’s castle.

This double LP features 41 tracks from the game (including 7 bonus tracks from the Sega Saturn version of the game) all remastered for vinyl and featuring all new original artwork by Jasmin Darnell. Available on three different colorways: 2X 180 Gram Black, Gold, and Bone (limited to 1,000 copies), 2X 180 Gram Bone / Silver Swirl with White Splatter, and 2X 180 Gram Translucent Red colored vinyl.

Mondo is thrilled to premiere the next in our on-going CASTLEVANIA soundtrack series with the PC-Engine title CASTLEVANIA: RONDO OF BLOOD, and the game’s Super Nintendo port CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X.

Originally released only in Japan on the PC-Engine (a system known in the US as the TurboGrafx-16), RONDO OF BLOOD is one of the most widely missed chapters of the CASTLEVANIA saga. Better known now as the “prequel” to the hugely popular and influential title CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT (the first level of which is a re-creation of the final battle of RONDO OF BLOOD). The story follows Richter Belmont, descendent of Simon and Trevor, on his journey to save his girlfriend and her little sister Maria from the clutches of Dracula.

The game was eventually ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System a few years later but due to the limitations of the hardware, the port of RONDO OF BLOOD was re-made and re-named CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X – a streamlined and more linear version of the game, featuring a soundtrack better suited to the system’s capabilities.

Featuring artwork by Oliver Barrett and pressed on 2X 180 Gram vinyl (Disc 1: Blue with Black Splatter and Disc 2: Red with Black Splatter).

Friday the 13th The Game Update

Posted in Friday the 13th, horror, news, Video Games with tags , , on July 17, 2018 by chrisdsav

Hey all!

Been a while since our last Kickstarter specific update; this one is for those of you who backed our game and included in their rewards the physical or digital versions of the Soundtrack CD and/or Artbook. Today we’re here to give you an update as to where we are with those items, both digital and physical.

Before we get into that, we do need to address the announcement of the cessation of all content creation for Friday the 13th: The Game. The team has made a statement that can be read here, on our website.

Unfortunate as it is, we remain committed to you, our backers with delivering promised rewards. The final pieces are so very close to being finished. We withheld these items back to include single player content as a means to ensure as much content was created would be added into the final products. Our team poured a lot of work and effort into music, kills, scenarios, art and everything else to give fans an authentic single player experience as Jason Voorhees, coupled with the Virtual Cabin 2.0 experience.

Today, we’re here to give you an update on when you should expect your rewards. The team at Gun Media, along with our partners working on art, music and single player content have finalized both rewards and are shipping them off to print and pressing. We even have some mock-ups for the final design of the artbook for you right here! Soundtrack artwork will be coming, presently.

To give you a rough estimate of size; the CD will include 2 discs full of music from the game composed and performed by the great Harry Manfredini, while the artbook is well over 100 pages of art, design, concept and screenshots.

What you’re probably asking is ‘when do I get my stuff?’

Artbook is the biggest time factor here; from shipping of the rough files to print with our physical partners. In total, we’re roughly estimating around 6 to 8 weeks total until these items are in your hands. This rough estimate includes time for us to proof the work and ensure it meets our standards for both the CD and the artbook. They will be shipped out at the same time.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ORDERED DIGITAL VERSIONS; we will be providing access via BackerKit as you’ve received from your other rewards via a link when you sign into your account. You will be able to access to your rewards when we begin to ship physical copies.

This has been a long process, and many of you have been waiting since 2015 when you first heard about these items to finally receive them. We’re happy to announce the wait is so very close to over, and our team is incredibly happy and thankful to you for not only your patience, but to finally deliver some incredibly cool rewards promised to you at the beginning of this project.

Our sincerest thanks!

-Gun Media

PS; Please ensure that your address is up to date. You can change via your Backerkit account! If you are having issues, please email the DEDICATED SUPPORT EMAIL at backers@fearthegun.com.

Vampyr

Posted in horror, news, vampires, Video Games with tags , , , , on May 7, 2018 by chrisdsav

AT LONG LAST and I know this was announced back in Feb but I only found out today. (one of my local Game Stops is run by morons sometimes not to be cruel but I have expressed interest in this game MULTIPLE times) This is coming June 5th.

The game focuses on Dr. Jonathan Reid and his affliction with vampirism. As he encounters various citizens of 1918 London, Reid struggles with the juxtaposition between his duty to heal as a doctor and his need to feed as a vampire. Should players choose to indulge Reid’s curse, they must decide which citizens will become his next victims and, depending on how intimately Reid gets to know those citizens, how Reid will live with the consequences of his curse.

Also there is an amazing cover of the Blue Oyster Cult Song Here as the them to the Game

Dr.Chris Record Spotlight: Castlevania II Simon’s Quest

Posted in 80s, Dracula, entertainment, Monsters, music, vampires, Video Games, vinyl with tags , , , on July 7, 2017 by chrisdsav

It has been a long long time since I did one of these. I figured with the new anime show out now it be time to do another of the Castlevania records. I don’t have three yet which is what the new Netflix show is based on.  It’s on Netflix now check it out, the show is four epsiodes.

The music is what you expect from the game. Not every one loves this game it’s the most controversial of the CASTLEVANIA games. The music was still spot on matching the gothic nature of the franchise fighting your way thru Dracula castle.

The soundtrack was composed by Kenichi Matsubara, who later created music for the Castlevania arcade title Haunted Castle.  Haunted is considered to be a very very difficult game to beat.

The NES version of the sound track is on side A the Famicon version on side B. There are major difference between the two. I’m not a music expert but I do like scoree from both.

The art for the album is by Eric Powell. I love the map of Castlevania in  the middle of the sleeve when you unfold it . If your a huge Castlevania fan like I am you want to pick this up and the other sound tracks Mondo was selling them I’m not sure if they are sold out of the special edtions but you can get the regular black vinyl here
