New from Mondo records we have the single 7 inch sound track to the Monster Squad. The Monster Squad came out in 1987
The record has a Rock Until You Drop by Michael Sembello and Monster Squad Rap by the band The Monster Squad on the other side. they are goofy little songs and fun to listen too.

The one I obtained was with Dracula on the cover. The art work by Phantom City Creative.
Mondo also released covers with the Gillman the Mummy the Wolfman and the Monster of Frankenstein on the cover.

Each record has a blood splatter or color based on each of the creatures. It’s a cool little album if your a fan of the movie with a larger full length soundtrack coming this fall.

Universal Monsters Reboot Update

Posted in Horror Movies, Monsters, movies, Mummy, news, vampires on November 18, 2015 by chrisdsav

This was announced last year or early this year I think, I don’t think Dracula Untold was part of the reboot. I hope not its an ok film not a great or good film. Its border line so bad its good. Any way read the article below.

Per Variety, universe architects Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan spoke about their plans, confirming that The Mummy is the first film in the works. Reboots of Van Helsing, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Wolfman will follow; and different writers will tackle each monster.

The idea is that we have a deep bench of brains to consult with about how their monster fits into our world as we go forward,” Kurtzman explains. “We’re creating a mythology, so we’re looking at this canon and thinking, ‘What are the rules?’ What can we break, and what are the ones that are untouchable?

This is not a heightened world,” Morgan adds. “We’re exploring issues of family identity and questions of, ‘Where do I belong in the world?’”

Heroes tend to be perfect, but most people in an audience aren’t ever going to know what it’s like to be the smartest, strongest, or fastest person alive,” he continues. “But there’s a darkness inside everybody. And everyone wants to be able to turn a curse into empowerment. The monsters have been in the shadows, and now it’s time to bring them out into the light.”

Universal’s big plan is for a new monster movie to come out each year, and the films will update the classic stories for modern times while retaining familiar elements. Much like in The Avengersuniverse, those individual characters will not necessarily be confined to their own movies.

The characters will interact with each other across movies,” says Donna Langley, chair of Universal Pictures. “We’re incubating it at the moment, and we’re taking the time to get it right.”

The brand new Mummy film will begin shooting in early 2016.

The Pyramid and Day of the Mummy

Posted in DVD, Egypt, Horror Movies, Monsters, Mummy on December 10, 2014 by chrisdsav

This week we get hit with TWO films from Egypt, (whats funny tho neither film was filmed in Africa, Day of the Mummy was filmed in Mexico)
The Pyramid and Day of the Mummy, both films are a mix of Found footage and Real filming.

In The Pyramid you have a crew led by a father daughter archeology team trying to uncover the secret of a 3 sided Pyramid. The Pyramids of Giza have 4 sides so this is a unique one. The movie switches back and forth between the two film styles one by one the characters get killed off by something and some traps. We learnt he Pyramid is the tomb for the God of Death ANUBIS. This is the first movie outside of the Mummy Returns that uses this thing as the villan. Its a bit CGI but I can overlook that. We also have some Jackle Dog Rat creatures in the movie. I went into this movie really wanting to HATE IT and I mean rolling my eyes and with bad expectation. What I got was a movie which was not great but not bad either. Denis o Hare is the father in the movie hes been on True Blood and American Horror Story so he still remains in the Horror industry. Its written by Grégory Levasseur who was the writer behind P2 and The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension working alongside Alexandre Aja. Their film making style is definetly seen here. Its worth checking out and playing at theaters now.
Day of the Mummy stars Danny GLover on camera thru a pair of Spy Glasses the whole movie. The main character played by William McNamara is trying to find a gem for Glover. They bring a team with them an unlock a Mummy and his followers who sacrifice people to him. The cool thing about the Mummy is ITS REAL. They actually had an actor in a suit and make up. I hate found footage movies and its one Big reason I can’t give this movie more credit than that. The main actor we have coming on soon says because it costs so much to get a movie financed that found footage it shit cheaper and easier to make. I don’t understand this explanation I think its lazy filmmaking. Both movies are out now.

Day of the Mummy

Posted in entertainment, Horror Movies, Monsters, Mummy with tags on November 6, 2014 by chrisdsav

I keep saying it there are not enuff Mummy movies on the market today. We need more Mummy movies. What is a Mummy? Its basically a zombie wrapped in bandages. We have so much good and bad Zombie crap out why not some Mummy stuff. Last Mummy movie I saw was the animated film Unwrapped and before that The Mummy Curse of the Dragon Emperor. In that the Mummy was played by Jet Li, as part of the Brendan Fraiser Mummy series. Universal is rebooting that franchise soon. I am planning on making my own Mummy movie sometime soon as well.

Mummy

Here is a Mummy movie coming soon from Image Entertainment.

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, announces the DVD release of the action/adventure film Day of the Mummy. Directed by Johnny Tabor (Eaters), the film stars Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), William McNamara (Copycat), Andrea Monier (Black Water Vampire), Robin Steffen (Phase Two), Philip Marlatt (The Screen Junkies Show), Eric Young (Zipper), Michael Cortez (On the Downlow). Day of the Mummy will be available on DVD on December 9, 2014.

Welcome to Egypt, land of the Pharaohs. A place steeped in history and legend; Gods and spiritual guides; untold wealth – and the bone-cracking, blood-spilling guardians of its riches.

Jack Wells has arrived in Egypt in search of the famous diamond known as The Codex Stone. His journey leads him to the tomb of the cursed King Neferu, cursed not by name but by nature. With his centuries-old slumber disturbed by timeless human greed, the King rises from the dead with a blood-lust that cannot be quenched and a raging fury that will shred flesh from bone, bringing terrible and tormented death to all who dare witness the Day of the Mummy.
