RIP Steve Ditko

Posted in Comic Books, death, horror, news with tags , , on July 6, 2018 by chrisdsav

In some very sad news I have to report Artist Steve Ditko has died. He created Doctor Strange Blue Beetle The Creeper Hawk and Dove and more importantly with Stan Lee THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. I owe SOOOOO MUCH to Steve Ditko. Spider-Man is the first comic book character I ever grasped on to and the first comic book book I really ever started Collecting when I was 10 years old. I cant tell you how much Steve Ditko means to me. Doctor Strange is one of my favorite characters of all time. I am at a loss for words beyond saying what I feel he will be missed. Its very sad to hear he had no wife no kids no living relatives.

The Lullaby

Posted in death, horror, movies with tags , , on March 7, 2018 by chrisdsav

In honor of both my podcast co hosts being pregnant and true horror fans I thought they get a kick out of this new Horror movie coming.

You’ll wish you never brought your baby home.

Uncork’d Entertainment gives birth to evil with the chilling The Lullaby, in theaters and VOD March 2.

Chloe is overwhelmed by the birth of her first child. The incessant crying of her baby, the growing sense of guilt and paranoia sends her into depression. With a heightened urge to protect her son, Chloe sees danger in every situation. She starts to hear voices, the humming of a childhood lullaby and sees flashes of a strange entity around her child. Convinced that the entity is real, Chloe will do everything in her power to protect her son. Is she haunted by evil or is it just the baby blues?

Reine Swart, Deànré Reiners, Thandi Puren, Brandon Auret, and Dorothy-Ann Gould star in a Darrell James Roodt film, opening in theaters across the U.S and available on VOD 3/2.

I just heard the news today we lost Author Jack Ketchum.

Reported on his Facebook page yesterday afternoon by his webmaster

I am really broken up over this I cant even express how I feel

I have never had a guest on my show more often than I have Jack Ketchum since I started Radio of Horror back in 2007. Dallas to his friends.  I could call Dallas anytime and he would always call me back. We would chat on the phone for HOURS about movies. He gave me a letter of recommendation to a job I desperately wanted back 2011. Jack beat Cancer back in 2016, unfortunately it returned and has lost his battle, you will be missed Dallas.

Please check his site for update info on memorial services.

Slenderman A True Horror Story

Living with Slenderman

By Kathleen Hale
Hale writes about the back story and update on the crime perpetrated by two young girls against their classmate 4 years ago. Thankfully the Payton Leutner recovered and is still alive today recently now a sophmore in high school.
The two classmates believed Slender Man (character created for a video game)  told them to do it. Geyser and Weier were both originally charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a possible sentence of up to 65 years in prison. Weier pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional homicide in a deal with prosecutors but claimed she was mentally ill during the attack and not responsible for her actions.
Its a great look at one of the most disturbing crimes involving a female minor.

Cinamon Hadley RIP

Posted in 80s, Comic Books, DC Comics, death, Geekbabes, Goth, news with tags , , , , on January 8, 2018 by chrisdsav

Cinamon Hadley, the inspiration for the character design of Neil Gaiman’s Death of The Endless featured in his Sandman comics, has passed away from a long battle with cancer on January 6th. I’m pretty sad by this as Death is one of the best characters to be created in comics and really helped me deal with some of my own personal problems.

Neil Gaiman on Death

“Death is the only major character whose visuals didn’t spring from me; that credit goes to Mike Dringenberg. In my original Sandman outline, I suggested Death look like rock star Nico in 1968, with the perfect cheekbones and perfect face she has on the cover of her Chelsea Girl album. But Mike Dringenberg had his own ideas, so he sent me a drawing based on a woman he knew named Cinamon Hadley — the drawing that was later printed in Sandman 11 — and I looked at it and had the immediate reaction of, “Wow. That’s really cool.”

She had been diagnosed with cancer of the colon, which went into remission but returned. The friends of designer Cinamon Hadley have been celebrating her life and mourning her passing.
