HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE.

What better way to kick off the holiday today than looking at some pictures from the new Alien movie coming next year. It will have been five years since Prometheus was in theaters let’s see if the follow up will hold up. Thanks to So is it any good .com for the pictures.

well apparently fox brought a cease and desist notice against the site for the pictures posted. Don’t they want to help spread the good word of their movie rather than continue to tarnish their shitt reputation more and more. Guess not. Prometheus was a failure and they know it, they put Alien 2.5 on hold for no good reason.

I Am So Excited For Halloween!!

Posted in Halloween, horror with tags , on October 19, 2016 by Kristina

Halloween is such a magical holiday. You can dress up as anything you want. It gives you an excuse to binge watch your favourite horror movies. It’s the one night a year where you can quite literally take candy from strangers. It’s great.

All that being said, I think my absolute favourite thing about Halloween is the fact that even if someone isn’t a hardcore horror fan, they can still get into the spirit. They’ll still dress up, deck out their house, and hand out candy. It’s such a fun holiday that literally anybody can get into it regardless of their interests the other 364 days of the year.

Plus it’s always adorable to see the kids come up to your door! I can’t wait for that!

This Halloween I have some pretty fun plans! Saturday I’m going to a pals Halloween party, Sunday I’m gonna binge watch some horror movies then do Radio of Horror, and then on Halloween I’m staying home to hand out candy to kids! I’m so stoked.

What are your Halloween plans?? Are you taking your kids out? Going to a party? Rewatching American Horror Story? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

Why You Should Watch Slasher

Posted in Canada, horror, thriller, tv with tags , on October 17, 2016 by Kristina

slasher_tv_poster

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Slasher, it’s an eight part mini series written by Aaron Martin. This Canadian mini series was filmed in Parry Sound, Ontario and Sudbury, Ontario. It premiered in March of this year so I’m a little late to the party, but better late than never!

It stars Katie McGrath as Sarah,  Brandon Jay Mclaren as Dylan, Dean Mcdermott as Iain, and Steve Byers as Cam.

In the first episode we see Sarah’s parents get murdered within the first five minutes when her father lets a strange hooded man into their home on Halloween(1988), thinking it’s his friend. That whole first scene was both very comediec and gory. It definitely had a very campy vibe to it, which was why I knew I’d enjoy the rest of the series so much.

By the second scene it’s modern day and we see Sarah and her husband Dylan moving into the home her parents were brutally murdered in. Shortly after they move back to town, a bunch of copycat murders start to take place and everyone in town is a suspect. Including Sarah.

I won’t say too much more because I don’t want to give anything away. However, if you’re a fan of fun, campy, and kind of cheesy horror, you will love Slasher. You’ll get lots of laughs as well as gore. As I said, it’s definitely cheesy, but the writing is there too.

I haven’t been able to find out any info about the release of season two, but season one will be perfect for you guys to binge watch this Halloween! I hope you all get a chance to check it out! Remember, support Canadian horror!

The Old Spaghetti Factory

Posted in Canada, ghosts, horror, locations, news with tags , , , on October 12, 2016 by chrisdsav

the-old-spaghetti-factory-gastown

For many Canadians, especially in British Columbia, it’s a fairly well known fact that the Old Spaghetti Factory in Vancouver is haunted. So as the Canadian co-host I feel that it is my job to tell our viewers about all the weird events that have taken place there over the years.

Now, there are supposedly four ghosts that haunt the Old Spaghetti Factory. The first is an unknown little girl. She is best known for sitting by the front window holding a balloon. One time a friend of the general manager was in the restaurant and he had a conversation with her that lasted for several minutes. The little girl told him that she was looking for her mother. Naturally he went to tell the manager, but by the time they returned the girl was gone.

The second(and best known) ghost is the spirit of a tram conductor. The conductor is known to frequent the old trolley car that is parked inside the restaurant. The trolley was built in New Westminister in 1904. It was once part of the B.C Electric Railway companys fleet of electric trams and served as public transit in and around Vancouver for years. The trolley was decommissioned in 1957 and installed in the building in 1969 during the set up of the restaurant. Now it sits in the restaurant filled with dining tables and chairs for guests to eat in.

It’s up for debate whether the conductors spirit came with the trolley or not. There are some who say he died in a collision on an underground railroad below the restaurant. However, that is highly unlikely as Vancouvers trolley cars all ran street level and the building itself has no historical connection with the B.C Electric Railway Company. That being said, most assume the ghost came with the tram car.

Regardless of his orgin, many staff member have seen the conductor. He will always appear sitting at the same dining table in the tram car late at night after closing. Staff members have also noticed place settings mysteriously move inside the tram car as well as inexplicable cold spots.

The third ghost is a young boy. In 2012 he scared the crap out of some poor female server. She was in the back section closing up for the night and while setting tables she saw a boy run past her to the very back. She obviously thought it was strange so she followed him. The little boy had ran behind a table along the back wall, turned, and looked up at her. Nobody knows exactly what she saw when he looked up at her, but it was obviously terrifying. The poor girl ran to the front to tell the manager and quit on the spot.

After that incident a psychic came in and was able to identify the boy as “Edward”. She also pointed out that there was apparently a vortex located at the back of the resturaunt. A vortex is essentially a portal to other dimensons that allows spirits to come to our world. Some people believe they are linked to Earth’s electromagnetic fields and that influences where they’re located as well as when they open or close. The psychic also claimed that several small artifacts decorating the restaurant have spirits attached to them.

Edward is also thought to be responsible for bending cutlery on tables in the back of the restaurant. One night during close a staff member walked through the back area to make sure that the place settings had been properly laid out. That staff member, as well as a few others, saw that each cutlery item on one of the tables was bent upwards. By the time they were able to get a manager to check it out, it was all back to normal. He also sometimes puts a chair on top of a table for staff to find in the morning.

The fourth and final ghost is my personal favourite. He is a small, mischievous spirit with red hair known as the “Little red man”. He is known to call out staff members names and stroll through the kitchen.

His favourite prank is to surprise ladies in the womens washroom. One time two ladies were in the washroom and theysaw a dwarvish man leave one of the stalls dressed in a red shirt and long johns. After laughing at their reactions, he left the washroom. After asking around, the ladies discovered that nobody else had seen him leave. One of the women had apparently taken his picture. However, when she had the film developed, he was a blur. Nobody knows who this man is or why he haunts the Old Spaghetti Factory, but one thing is obvious. This ghost definitely has a good sense of humor.

So those are the four ghosts of the Old Spaghetti Factory in Vancouver, British Columbia. If you’re feeling brave and would like to visit, check out their website for the location and phone number. http://www.oldspaghettifactory.ca

The Clownpocalypse

nintchdbpict000272316738.jpg

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the “killer clown” epidemic. Although they’re mostly just in America, I’ve read that they’re in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and some parts of Australia too! So I’ve decided to briefly tell you about the clown sightings you probably aren’t seeing on the news, if you’re living in America!

So far in Australia nothing has happened other than a couple sightings outside of night clubs. I don’t believe any threats have been made either. However the clowns have only been in town for about a day, so we’ll see.

In Nova Scotia the clown stood in the middle of the road which forced the driver to stop her car. After she stopped her car the clown came running towards her and chased her down the street.

In Ontario(in the city I live in too, actually) threats have been made to schools, but nothing has actually happened. However, in Ontario they believe that the threats were actually made by students to get out of class today. Why? It’s the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. The police suspect the kids wanted to turn their three day weekend into a four day weekend.

So why are people suddenly taking an interest in dressing up as clowns and scaring the shit out of people? Who decided to start this new trend? Is this just a way to get people in the Halloween spirit? Or will the “clownpocalypse” continue on past Halloween?

Dr. Chris and I will be getting into more detail about the “killer clowns” on our next show this Sunday at 12am! Be sure to tune in to hear more!

Why You Probably Wouldn’t Survive A Zombie Apocalypse

Posted in horror, Horror Survival News, news, Zombies on October 5, 2016 by chrisdsav

zombies.jpg

Now, if you’re like me you’ve probably thought about what you would do in the event of a zombie apocalypse at least once or twice. You’ve probably thought of what weapons you would use, where you would hide out, and just about everything else. I’m sure you probably came up with a solid plan, but I’m going to tell you why you probably won’t survive.

The first thing people generally don’t factor in when making their “survival plan” is the fact that they would be scared shitless in the event of an outbreak like that! I mean, do you not remember how people reacted to swine flu??? If that’s how they react to a flu, imagine the reaction to people dying, coming back to life, and eating people! The fear alone would be enough to fuck up your chances.

Another thing you probably didn’t consider is that the zombies might not be Walling Dead zombies. They could be like Resident Evil zombies and be fast as fuck. If thats the case then you’d have to be pretty damn fast to get away from them.

My final point was actually briefly brought up on the Walking Dead in season two. Water. There’s only so much bottled water you’d be able to find and I am almost positive that the zombies would contaminate most of the water. So what would you do?

Thanks for reading this post about why you wouldn’t survive a zombie apocalypse! If you think I’m wrong be sure to tell me why in the comments!

The Fort Garry Hotel

Posted in ghosts, Halloween, History, horror, Places with tags , on October 3, 2016 by chrisdsav

hotel_fort_garry_lge.jpg

The Fort Garry Hotel is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was built in 1913. It was originally supposed to be called The Selkirk, however it was decided that it should be named after Upper Fort Garry, which once stood at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers.

Fort Garry was popular from the start, hosting many famous guests including Queen Elizabeth, King George VI, Laurence Oliver, Louis Armstrong, and Liberaci. What makes the hotel so popular today is all the reports of strange activity, especially in room 202, from guests and staff alike. The claims range from staff seeing blood dripping down the walls of room 202 to guests waking up in the middle of the night to the apparition of a woman in a cloak hovering at the foot of their bed! Other reports include housekeepers being locked in room 202 and windows in the room apparently shattering out of nowhere! Even former Ontario Liberal MP Brenda Chamerlain noticed something strange going on in room 202! During her stay in the room back in 2004 she claimed she was awoken by the sensation of somebody getting into bed with her… twice!

So you’re probably wondering what the deal with room 202 is, right? Well apparently many years ago there was a young woman was staying in the room. During her stay she found out that her husband had died in a car crash. She was so heartbroken she hung herself in the closest of room 202.

Another story from room 202 is about a young boy who was on a trip with his family organized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He had apparently requested to stay in room 202 after hearing all the stories about the room. During his stay he decided to take some pictures with his film camera. A few months later when he got the photos back, all the pictures had turned out… except for the ones in and around room 202. The little boy was apparently pretty stoked, saying that the ghosts were “camera shy”.

The woman from room 202 reportedly haunts the hotel lounge as well. She has been witness by guests and staff, usually crying in the corner.

Staff have also reported seeing the ghost of a young woman wearing a robe walking down the hallway. Others have reported seeing a woman in a ball gown. Sometimes ghosts are even witnessed in rooms other than room 202, usually at the foot of the bed.

Now, this last story about the hotel takes place in 1989. An employee was in the kitchen tidying up late at night. He was on his way up the stairs at around 4am when he started hearing strange noises coming from the locked dining room. He immediately rushed to get the key. Upon opening the door he noticed the figure of a man sitting at a table. He ran on to get another staff member to show them what he had witnessed, but by the time he got back, the mysterious man was gone.

So what do you think? Haunted hotel or a clever hoax to attract guests? The Fort Garry Hotel is now a National Historic Landmark, however it is still open to this day. If you’re brave enough to check it out for yourself, you can go to this link to book a room:
