IDW Celebrates the
Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary with
Weekly Comic Book Event in April
Four One-Shot Spooktaculars, Guaranteed to Cause Mass Hysteria!

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 24, 2019) – Are you troubled by strange noises in the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or your family actually seen a spook, specter, or ghost? If the answer is yes, then four fearless Ghostbuster teams are here to serve your supernatural elimination needs, courtesy of IDW!

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters, IDW Publishing will release a different Ghostbusters comic weekly in April, each focusing on a different team, including the original “Prime” team from the classic film, the Real Ghostbusters of 1980s cartoon fame, the all-female team that “Answered the Call” in 2016, and the next generation of Extreme Ghostbusters!

“Since 2008, IDW has published an amazing library of ‘Busters from multiple dimensions and times, written and illustrated by a diverse crew of mega-talented creators… so what better way is there to celebrate this special anniversary than by showing off the eclectic cast from Ghostbusters projects far and wide?” says Senior Editor Tom Waltz. “Fans, old and new, can again expect the best of the best in full four-color, SLIMERRIFIC glory!”

IDW Editor-in-Chief John Barber says, “Ghostbusters has been an important part of IDW Publishing for more than a decade, and thanks to everybody at Sony and Ghost Corps, it’s been an amazing eleven years. With Ghostbusters hitting such a milestone anniversary, it’s time to celebrate every facet of the team’s history… and to get ready for everything that’s coming next!”

April 2019’s Ghostbusters one-shot specials include:

Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Ghostbusters
by Erik Burnham (writer) and Dan Schoening (artist)
First out of the Firehouse are the original ‘busting team of Peter, Winston, Egon and Ray, who have seen a lot of things during their time as paranormal investigators, but the latest case might just turn history on its head! Could it be that they’ve found proof of… Atlantis?

Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Real Ghostbusters
by Cavan Scott (writer) and Marcelo Ferreira (artist)
The Real Ghostbusters keep losing business to a flashy new rival ghost-catching company: SPOOKS AWAY! But there’s something sinister in the neighborhood, and it’s up to Ray Stantz to go undercover to find out who—or what is behind these new supernatural elimination superstars!

Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Answer The Call Ghostbusters
by Devin Grayson (writer) and S.L. Gallant (artist)
Do demons get visitation rights? A harried young mother tries to accommodate a stream of otherworldly visitors, intent on paying their respects to her half-demon toddler, and Erin, Abby, Patty, and Holtzman find themselves mediating the custody battle from hell!

Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary: Extreme Ghostbusters
by Jim Beard and Keith Dallas (writers), and Tim Lattie (artist)
Ever wish you could talk to animals? Well, when the furry, feathered, and finny inhabitants of the Central Park Zoo star demanding their release, the people of New York just wish they’d shut up! It’s up to Egon and his Extreme Ghostbustersto free the beasts from their fiendish possession!

The announcement of IDW’s Ghostbusters 35thAnniversary comic book event follows news of a planned Ghostbusters film sequel slated for 2020, set within the continuity of the original two films. Fans of IDW’s “prime” Ghostbusters line should take heart that the original team will return in new adventures leading up to the motion picture.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters 2

Posted in Comic Books, ghosts, horror, IDW, news with tags , , , , on July 21, 2017 by chrisdsav

We got a sequel coming to one of the most off beat weirdest Cross overs in Comics ever

unnamed (1)

From the Press Release by IDW of Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe) and Tom Waltz (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, editor for Ghostbusters)

“When Erik and I first broached the idea of joining the TMNT with the Ghostbusters way back when, it felt like a wonderfully impossible dream,” said co-writer Tom Waltz.  “Well, that dream came true with the first volume in a big way, and now I’m absolutely ecstatic to have the opportunity to once again help bring my two favorite quartets together for another massive comic book crossover event! And, like the first go-around, the events in this story directly flow out of and affect the storylines in both ongoing series.”

“I had such a blast working on the first crossover with Tom, and in the years since, we’ve talked about what we might do if we ever got a crack at a sequel,” said co-writer Erik Burnham. “When the opportunity came up, we didn’t even use a single one of those plans! Instead, we grabbed villains from both universes and mixed them together to form the foundation of a fun story that furthers the ongoing stories of both the Turtles and the Ghostbusters. Even better, we get some more one-on-one scenes, allowing their complementary personalities to shine and we’re beyond excited to share!”

When last the Turtles and the original ‘Busters crossed streams in 2014, the Turtles got stuck in the Ghostbusters dimension… along with a brand-new, all-powerful, all-crazy ghost from centuries past! It was met with enthusiasm from both fans and critics with IGN declaring the mash-up of proton packs and ninjutsu “hugely entertaining.”

Ghostbusters

The movie is not good BUT its not RoboCop or The Nightmare on Elm Street Remake.

MV5BNzAzODQ1NTk4OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODIwOTIwODE@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,674,1000_AL_

I’m not going over the plot of this movie its the same as the last two. The jokes fall flat and people seems to be zombies going to this movie so glad they have a Ghostbusters movie and not even caring how bad it is. Why are people laughing at this movie. Its one giant fart joke from beginning to end./ You have a villain that is the worst example of screen writing ever. He is a whiny little mommy boy bell hop who feels society owes him something. This is not Gozer or Vigo at all. The special effects look like crap they look like something from that Disney Haunted Mansion movie. So much Blue CGI it looks like garbage. I was so board watching this I could not wait for it to be over.  Leslie Jones was the same two jokes a loud screaming Black Woman, Melissa was so toned down in this movie,  but made the typical  Fat GIRL joke of the movie, as the one who loves food and complains how her food is delivered all the time. Kristen Wig tried to be the straight woman and it came across as boring. Kate McKinnion as the inventor was quirky and weird and funny ill give it that.

The men are all cowards and ass holes and morons in this film. Not one great character exists among them. I don’t know why Chris Helmsworth the receptionist  was written as such a moron.  The cameos by the original cast are a mixed back Murray looks board walking thru his lines and Sigourney Weaver seems the only one interested in being in the movie.

This was a soul less attempt at a cash grab and that’s all. It made money guess what The Back to the future and Gremlins remakes are coming and they will suck as much some as the past remakes we have had did.

Review – Ghostbusters

NEED TO CLARIFY BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR MINDS

My Friend and fellow film critic who knows his films puts his review on Ghostbusters,  make it your opinion don’t be afraid of what people think of you over a movie. ITS ONLY A MOVIE.  ( go look up people calling out and miss using the words sexism and anti feminism to describe their stupidity on the internet. If you don’t want to go see this movie, that’s fine you don’t have too. People like James Roulf the Angry Video game Nerd and Andre Black Nerd Rant were attacked because they were one way or the other about this movie. To be labeled a sexist or anti feminist cuz you don’t want to see it is so …aaaghhhh  )

FILM REVIEW
GHOSTBUSTERS
With Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth. Written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig. Directed by Paul Feig. Rated PG-13 for supernatural action and some crude humor. 116 minutes.

Why are we getting a GHOSTBUSTERS remake (or “reboot” if you prefer)? For no good reason except the studio owned the rights and they could do it. It beats coming up with something original, right?

The movie is a mess from start to finish, not counting the green slime. From the opening jokes that fall flat in quick succession to an incoherent third act that has so many loose threads that a musical production number gets dumped into the closing credits, it’s clear that the people in charge had no idea what they were doing. Putting director Paul Feig in charge, perpetrator of “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat,” and “Spy,” guarantees that the comedy…

Ghostbusters Cartoons

Posted in 80s, Cartoons, DVD, entertainment, ghosts, horror, remakes with tags , on July 12, 2016 by chrisdsav

There was an announcement a few weeks ago that we are getting a new Ghostbusters cartoon set in the future. This sounds very similar to Dan Akroyds original script for Ghostbusters which was to be set in the future, I’m sure there is no coincidence. Up to this point Ghostbusters cartoons have been hit or miss there is no denying that the Real Ghostbusters was a hit. The Extreme Ghostbusters depending on who you talk to is a hit or miss among fans. It did give us a abetter diverse cast than what we have coming out Friday.

I’m not going to go over the entire show so many other people have done that but I will point out some of the highlights of the show and my favorite episodes, including thoughts on  the Extreme. Sorry Filmmation Ghostbusters I just don’t have enough interest to cover your cartoon based on the 1970s tv show.  The Real Ghostbusters recently returned in an IDW mini series crossing them over with the ongoing story arc.

ghostbusters_get_real_comic_issue_1_823638

ALL EPISODES ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON HOME VIDEO however the new set does not contain all the episodes and lacks any bonus material

Collect Call of the Cthulhu

If this is not the BEST episode of the entire cartoon I don’t know what is. The Necronomicon is stolen from the NY public Library the same library seen in the beginning of Ghostbusters the movie. The guys team up with a spell caster from Miskatonic university and actually fight Cthulhu and his cult of worshipers. ” He makes Gozer look like little Mary Sunshine” Its dark its drawn well and it kicks ass go buy it now

Ragnarok and Roll

A guy depressed over losing his girl friend decides to bring about the end of the world with a magic flute than can summon some bad shit. This episode is one of the darkest ever and a touching love story. A great moment is when he comes to his senses with the help of his faithful companion his ex and the guys and cant stop Ragnarok Egon put a plan together and commands his team perfectly

The Night Halloween Was forever

Sam Hain the living embodiment of Halloween comes back to bring about Halloween forever. He appears in two episodes both equally good. They talk about the lore of Halloween and there is some cool imagery. I like the second episode more minus the Jr Ghostbusters who are annoying Sam turns the firehouse into his new headquarters.

The Boogey Man Cometh

A look into the history of Egon Spengler as he was terrified of the Boogey man now BM has a voice so raspy and creepy only Frank Welker ( Megatron, Dr.Claw Slimer) could pull it off. In the second episode Egon gets thrown off a building and nearly dies and has to come to grips with the fall but he also frees the Boogey man from  his prison. Its darker in tone I think and really hits it on all levels.

Extreme Ghostbusters

Over all this show was hit or miss I like the animation at times and its really dark and moody in almost every episode. You have the four kids being trained by Egon and its something we had hoped the 3rd movie should have been about. Alas with the Death of Harold Ramis  we didn’t get that we got ….well see it Friday

9127K1OEthL._SX342_

Time Life Warner put out a great box set filled with bonus material and the toons just got released on dvd again last week, but be warned its a paltry set compared to what we got in 2009. No word on Extreme Ghostbusters yet.

Stay tuned for another Ghostbuster review later this week.

It’s written by John Horace Tobin a paranormal investigator who didn’t make any cartoon or movie appearance but did appear in the Now and IDW comic books. This is not going to be a review about how great this book is because you already know that part, but just letting you knew where each of these ghosts appear. A detailed list of mush of their first appearances and what issues or movie or comics or game to find them in. Ecto Cooler ….Missing??

Posted in 80s, food, ghosts, news, remakes with tags , , on May 31, 2016 by chrisdsav

Where is it any one find it?? No one knows where it is. I have called COKE several times and the places that stock my products in Massachusetts. Where is this drink no one has a sku fr it. People are being ripped off on Ebay and can’t find it any where.

https://www.heb.com/product-detail/hi-c-ghostbusters-ecto-cooler-cans/2040201?cid=PDP-ECTO-CC

Walmart says it will be here on Friday as well I don’t believe that either.  I hope to hear back from Coke. The release date was May 30th but no store has the drink in stock. The new release date is June 3rd this Friday according to their site.

Hi-C Ghostbusters Ecto Cooler 2016

The statement below is from the Resurrect Ecto Cooler Facebook page.

Sold out, unavailable? Before you get too angry, here’s what you should know!

Availability is messy today, probably why Coke buried the release date in the original announcement of Ecto Cooler’s return (though we had to tout it on this fan page, making for a bit of a fervor today!)

There just aren’t channels for timed brick and mortar releases of juice. When is there hype in the juice aisle? What grocer would foresee this? Never and few. Luckily Coke says they’ve got loads in the warehouse, waiting to be ordered. That’s where you come in, if you want boxes, call your grocer and tell them what they’re missing. Coke can’t just send product, they have to want it. Provide UPC for ease: 0 25000 03242 4

If you’re only surrounded by giant chains that won’t carry, ordering cans may be your only option. Speaking as someone who has tried box vs can, we actually prefer can, so don’t feel gypped! Amazon Prime members had the luck of ordering some last night before it sold out. Coke says this too is being restocked. Here’s the link to bookmark http://www.amazon.com/…/B01FUB9…/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top…

Here is the contact information for the company if you want to find out what is going on.
