No Show x2

Posted in news, Places with tags , on May 20, 2024 by chrisdsav

No show the next two weeks. I was at a comic con today and it was so dull I barely made over 50.00 in sales. It was rough, I just was exhausted from the drive from Fall River. While I was there I stopped by the Lizzie Borden house and found the Miss Lizzie Cafe and the incredible history of the property and the ugly as hell lawsuit between the two places. We will have the owner Joe on the show coming up in June to talk about the history.

Next week I will be on vacation in Hawaii next week visiting a friend after the Vampire Ball at Hammond Castle in Glouster Mass.

Chris Ryall leaves IDW

Posted in Comic Books, horror, news with tags , , on July 21, 2020 by chrisdsav

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 21, 2020) –IDW Publishing, a subsidiary of IDW Media Holdings Inc. (OTC PINK: IDWM), and Chris Ryall today jointly announced that Ryall is stepping down as President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer to pursue new business opportunities.

“Change is often hard, and I will miss this extended family I have worked with for more than 15 years,” said Ryall. “In the past year alone, we brought on some amazing hires, expanded the scope of many of the departments, and re-focused the foundation of the business to best support the integrated multi-media company that IDW has become. Our collective success with the entertainment team on ‘Locke & Key’ has been a crowning moment for the entire company.  I’m so proud of this special place and the incredible people who work here. I know that I leave IDW perfectly poised for continued success.”

In partnership with Ashley Wood and many of the talented creators he has worked with at IDW, Ryall is launching a new storytelling venture focused on the disparate worlds and characters that he brought to life at IDW Publishing.

Although he is stepping aside from his current roles at IDW, he will continue as an Executive Producer on the Netflix series, “Locke & Key,” and remain the sole editor on any Locke & Key publishing ventures going forward.

“After the wonderful experience this past year serving as an Executive Producer on ‘Locke & Key’ and working with the amazingly creative team that brought the show to life, I look forward to bringing exciting new stories into the world through many different storytelling forms,” Ryall added. “I’m thrilled to be back working alongside Ashley Wood, as well as other creators to come, in developing interesting projects for our World of Syzygy venture.”

During Ryall’s tenure as President and Publisher, IDW Publishing signed a multi-year publishing initiative with the Smithsonian Institution, launched a major program to produce Spanish-language graphic novels for the North American market, transitioned its foreign book distribution business to Penguin Random House and led IDW Publishing to 15 prestigious Eisner Award nominations in 2020, the most of any publisher.

Ryall was one of the rare executives who not only produced comic books in his various capacities with the company, but also authored assorted projects, such as Zombies vs Robots, with artist Ashley Wood, in development at Sony Pictures. Perhaps the biggest mark he left on IDW was that of Chief Creative Officer, partnering across divisions to ensure that creators and stories were well cared for as they transitioned to entertainment.

Howard Jonas, IDW’s Chairman, said, “Chris has been instrumental in IDW Publishing’s success, and we thank him for the passion and commitment he brought to the company. We wish him all the best in his new ventures. With Chris’s departure, IDW will be restructuring and expanding its operations, and we will name a new management team very soon.”

The Crow Hack/Slash

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 18, 2019) – Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley brings his singular vision of horror – and his unique version of the “Final Girl” – to IDW in The Crow: Hack/Slash, a comic book crossover debuting in June. Illustrated by Tim Seeley with inks by returning Crow artist Jim Terry, this four-issue miniseries sees fan-favorite femme fatale Cassie Hack on the trailer of an all-new Crow… one unlike any that fans have seen before!

In The Crow: Hack/Slash #1, a soul is brought back… but something is terribly wrong! The resurrected Angeles Cero won’t stop killing on a quest for revenge, and the bodies are piling up. Now, slasher hunter Cassie Hack and her monstrous partner Vlad are on the trail of the Crow Killer, wrongly believing themselves in pursuit of a masked murderer they’ve hunted for years.

The Crow defined me as a fan of the comics medium, but also introduced me to a whole world of music and fashion that I’d never had access to before – one that completely fit the attitude my teenage brain was desperately looking for,” says Tim Seeley. “It introduced me to the idea that comics could tell dark and personal stories full of pain and beauty. No doubt about it – without O’Barr’s original The Crow, there would never have been a Hack/Slash. Mixing Cassie, Vlad, and The Crow has been in the making for 25 years, and my buddy Jim Terry and I cannot wait to unleash it on the world.”

Jim Terry says, “O’Barr’s The Crow was a turning point for me – his book brought me to indie comics and blew the doors off what I thought a comic could be. Years later, I’d become friends with James and eventually work on The Crow: Skinning the Wolves. It was my first published work and still among the best things I’ve done, and now I get to work in this universe again with my pal Tim Seeley. He’s a clever writer and a gifted storyteller, so I’m excited to take this ride and push some artistic limits!”

Issue #1 will feature a regular cover by Tim Seeley, with a variant edition by Rebekah A. Isaacs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and a special “inked” variant by Seeley.

my appendix had been in flamed in fact it was gangrenous  and going septic. ER doctor told me that if I had waited one more day it would have been game over man. So I been in the hospital  since Wed and done very little for the radio show since then. No show tonight as I will be on narcotics  thru out the day and it’s not good to drugs and drive. But check out my new interview with you tube fellow movie buff Oliver Harper.

THE RETURN OF JOE DANTE

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on February 3, 2015 by chrisdsav

The director of Gremlins 1& 2 and The Howling had a rough few years he tried to get a movie done on kick starter and failed ( so did I, good to know I am in good company lol) But he’s back and with what looks like a great horror comedy check out the press release below.

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired all U.S. rights to the highly-anticipated horror comedy from renowned director Joe Dante.   Written by Alan Trezza (TV’s “Sanctuary”), BURYING THE EX stars Anton Yelchin (ODD THOMAS, FRIGHT NIGHT), Ashley Greene (TWILIGHT) and Alexandra Daddario (TV’s “True Detective”).  The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, is expected to be released in theaters and on VOD in the summer of 2015.  Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for the Image brands, made the announcement today.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with legendary filmmaker Joe Dante,” said Ward.  “He brings a unique vision and style to BURYING THE EX.  We are confident that his fans and the genre community will embrace the film.”

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashely Greene).  Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare.  Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her.  Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle.  Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate.  But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max …

Produced by Mary Cybriwsky (MIDNIGHT MAN), Carl Effenson (HIDE AWAY), David Johnson (THE PEOPLE SPEAK), Frankie Lindquist (REACH ME), Kyle Tekiela (A SISTER’S CAL) and Alan Trezza, the deal was negotiated by Mark Ward on behalf of RLJE/Image Entertainment and Cassian Elwes, CAA and Voltage Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers

Creeping Crawling

What a creepy movie this is ewwwww bugs ugh

CREEPING CRAWLING is slithering to DVD & VOD October 7th

Creeping Crawling is the work of writer/director Jon Russell Cring’s CINEMA REBELLION along with writers Joshua Owens and Tracy Nichole Cring.

Displaying Creeping Crawling.jpg

You live with them, you feed them, you fear them. Creeping Crawling is an anthology featuring three tales of terror centered around things that go slither in the night.  Doug and Allison have a paper due and they’re hoping an eccentric entomologist will be the lynch pin to a passing grade.
They get more than they bargained for when Dr. Tarkovsky tells them the story of GRUBBERY and the lengths supermodel Denver will go to in order to keep her figure. Denver’s best friend Ginger introduces her to age old dieting wisdom as her boyfriend Rick witnesses her eaten away by her own vanity.
RID introduces Dori, a beautiful young girl who desperately needs money and poses as a nurse hired to take care of a comatose patient. While staying in the Gothic mansion, she begins to unravel as something feasts upon her while she sleeps.
Dr. Tarkovsky’s final cautionary tale centers around Bailey. In BUGGER, the lonely man navigates love online. He can’t seem to find a woman who shares his six legged obsessions. A co-worker has her doubts about his motives, as a serial killer is at large.

Supernatural Season 10

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on September 10, 2014 by chrisdsav

We are weeks away from the return of the adventures of Sam and Dean WInchester. On Oct 7th. As well as Crowley and Castiel who have joined the cats this season. As we left the show Dean died and became a Demon, now what kind of demon he has become who knows. We have the 200 episode of the show coming up which is going to be a musical. Beyond that we don’t have many other details from season 10 most likely trying to keep the Demon Dean story line under wraps. I found out recently that Mark Shepard who plays Crowley will be at the RI Comic Con in November.

Season 9 just came on blu ray and dvd , contains a great detail view of the Men of Letters bunker going thru the various items in the bunker. This was introduced in Season 8 and acts like a new home for the boys after Bobbies place was destroyed by Dick Roman in Season 7.  My favorite episode of this season is Dog Dean Afternoon where Dean gets the ability to talk to dogs and other animals its hilarious, The one episode that a lot of people had problems with guest started Felica Day as the Lesbian Hack Geek Charlie, It had a Wizard of Oz elements to it and honestly was not that bad.

Below is a video showing the then and now of the whole show
